역대 詩話集에 나타난 정몽주 시에 대한 비평과 그 의미

국문 초록

포은 정몽주는 고려말을 대표하는 정치가이자 시인이다. 역대 시화집에서 정몽주 시문학에 대한 문학적 평가가 본격적으로 시작된 것은 조선전기 徐居正의 『東人詩話』이다. 그 후 曺伸의 『謏聞瑣錄』, 許筠의 『惺叟詩話』, 洪萬宗의 『小華詩評』, 그리고 河謙鎭의 『東詩話』에 이르기까지 많은 시화집에서 포은 또는 포은문학에 대한 비평을 진행하고 있다. 시화집 뿐만 아니라 포은과 직간접으로 관련된 인물이나 후대에 포은을 추숭했던 인물들의 문집에서도 포은에 대한 언급을 찾을 수 있다. 그의 시는 서거정의 『동인시화』에서 “호매하고 준장하며 거리낌 없고 기상이 걸출하다”라는 평을 받은 뒤 조선조의 많은 시화집에서 뛰어난 시로 거론되어 왔다. 특히 남용익이 『호곡시화』에서 한국한시사를 총정리하면서 포은을 ‘호방’한 시인의 대표자로 자리매김한 데에서도 알 수 있다시피 포은시의 가장 큰 미학적 특징으로 선대의 비평가들은 ‘호방’을 거론하고 있다. 본고에서는 ‘호방’에 속하는 포은의 시들이 대체로 높은 산이나 누대에 올라 지어진 것임을 살펴보았다. 말하자면 登高를 통한 일망무제의 경치가운데에서 ‘浩然之氣’를 느끼며 쓴 시들이 호방의 품격에 속한다고 할 수있다. 포은 자신은 이같은 ‘호연지기’를 ‘豪氣’라는 이름으로 바꿔 부르고있다. 또한 포은시의 다른 특징으로 시적 감수성과 기교가 뛰어난 것들이 있다. 여기에 속하는 시들은 포은의 시인으로서의 재주와 면모를 유감없이 보여주고 있는 것들이어서 특히 주목된다. 이러한 계열의 시들을 조신은 『소문쇄록』에서 ‘工緻’하다는 비평을 하고 있다. 그리고 대체로 공치한 품격의 시들 중 상당수는 이른바 ‘唐詩風’의 면모를 지니고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Poeun Jeong Mong-ju is a representative politician and poet of late Koryo dynasty. Seo Geo-jeong wrote serious literary criticism on Jeong Mong-ju’s poetry in Dongin-sihwa for the first time among many collections of anthology/criticism. After that, many literati wrote some criticism on Poeun's character or Poeun’s literature in their own collections of anthology/criticism, such as Cho Shin's Somun-swaerok, Heo Gyun's Seongsu-sihwa, Hong Man-jong’s Sohwa-sipyeong, and Ha Gyeom-jin’s Dong-sihwa. We can find some comments on Poeun not only in collections of anthology/criticism, but also in another collections of literary works. And any literati, whoever either were related with Poeun or respected him, mentioned him in their writings. In Dongin-sihwa, Seo Geo-jeong opined about Poeun’s poetry as follows: “His poetry is indomitable, brave, free-hearted and outstanding.” Since then, his poems had been mentioned as excellent works. Especially organizing the history of Korean poetry in Hogok-sihwa, Nam Yong-ik ranked Poeun as a representative poet of ‘hobang(豪放-manly and large minded)’, and many critics considered hobang as the distinctive characteristic of Poeun’s poetry. In this paper, I explained that Poeun’s poems in the hobang were generally written on the places of top of high mountains or towers. Climbing the top of mountains or towers and looking out endless views of landscape, he felt some great spirit(浩然之氣) and wrote manly and large mined poems. Poeun himself named this great spirit ‘hogi(豪氣)’. Other characteristics of Poeun’s poem are of sensibility and technique. He gave full play to his talent as a poet in his sensitive and artful poems. Cho Shin, in his book, Somun-swaerok, appraised Poeun’s poems in sensibility and technique as ‘gongchi(工緻-talented and delicate)’. A considerable number of Poeun’s talented and delicate poems have aspect of Tang poetry.
