국문 초록

이 논문은 홀리스틱 교장의 리더십 이미지가 할리우드 영화 속에 어떻게 재현되어 있는지를 확인하는 데 있다. 홀리스틱 교육은 특히 교육과정에서 연관, 균형, 포괄을 핵심으로 한다. 홀리스틱 교장은 학교가 하나의 유기체라고 보면서 고유한 유기적 접근방법을 활용한다. 이러한 점에서 John Miller가 제시한 홀리스틱 교장은 다음과 같은 유기적 리더십 비전을 가져야 한다. 첫째, 비전은 변화를 위한 중요한 촉매제이다. 둘째, 비전을 유기적이다. 셋째, 하나의 초점을 갖지만 세부계획은 피한다. 넷째, 변화는 철저히 가장 기초적인 수준에서 일어난다. 다시 말하면 심오한 변화는 교사의 존재 안에서 발생할 때 일어난다. 다섯째, 갈등을 받아들인다. 여섯째, 변화는 비단선적이다. 일곱째, 비언어적 또는 침묵의 차원을 인정한다. 아홉째, 학교를 공장이 아닌 살아 있는 유기체로 본다. 이러한 홀리스틱 교장의 리더십 비전에 터하여 교장이 주연으로 나오는 4편의 할리우드 영화 속에 재현된 교장의 리더십 이미지를 텍스트 분석 방법을 통해 조사하였다. 그리고 14편의 영화를 분석한 4편의 영화와 비교하기 위해 인용하였다. 결과적으로 대부분의 할리우드 영화 속에 재현된 교장의 리더십 이미지는 찾아볼 수 없었고 관료적이고 외로운 직책으로 묘사되고 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

Holistic education views the school as an organism and change as organic. Instead of seeing the school as a factory where people behave as if they are working on an assembly line, the school can be seen as a complex living organism that is evolving. The primary focus in this whole process is the teacher's personal growth. Of course, the curriculum is important, but a holistic curriculum in the hands of a transmission-oriented teacher will become a transmission curriculum. Ideally, the principal will have a holistic vision. The principal should support teachers in their efforts to develop and use the holistic curriculum. If not, holistic teachers will function alone or in small, isolated groups. The principal can use teacher learning teams and help establish a cooperative environment among teachers in the school. The principal can do this by caring for the staff as the teacher cares for the students. In other words, the principal is fully present to the teachers. The principal asks the same questions of herself as she asks of the teachers. The principal takes risks and thus encourages risk-taking in teachers. The holistic principal realizes that change is gradual and organic and thus approaches it from an ecological perspective. With that in mind this study investigated how principals are portrayed in Hollywood films from a holistic perspective. Text analysis was used as a method of study. Four Hollywood films are analyzed and 14 other ones are cited to compare with the target films. In conclusion the image of the holistic principal is note represented in the films analysed.
