The late Joseon period, there were development of foreign trade followed by enlargement of agricultural production power which based on practical science and development of the trade followed by the circulation of metallic currency in the whole country after coming into Deadong law. The late Goryeo period had many changes and confusion because there had been a period of the reign of a military subject, a period of resistance for Mongo empire and Yuan's intervention. Moreover, there also had a sudden political change to Joseon Dynasty, so ceramic industry in Gangjin was closed and artisans in Gangjin scattered to find safer place. One of these place was Imiwueri and Chuhyunri, Joongmohyun in Sangju.(the name of the place in the reign of King Sejong, now Modongmyun) Also, Sangju in Gyeongsangbuk-Do is one of the places where can get materials for producing white porcelain, so artisans in Gangjin could migrate to the place during change of regime to Joseon Dynasty which based on Sung Confucianism. 『Sejongsilrok』「Jiriji」, King Sejong ordered basic information survey from 1424 to 1432, mentioned 139 porcelain spots and 185 potteries in the eight provinces of Korea and it also mentioned the quality of each porcelain spots and potteries. Among them, Gyeongsang-Do had 34 potteries in 28 areas, 37 porcelain spots in 29 areas ; namely, there were 71 spots in Gyeongsang-Do. It also mantioned that Gyeonggi-Do had 24 spots, ChungCheong-Do had 61 spots and Jeonla-Do had 70 spots. The merchandise porcelains produced one place in Upelchun, Kwangju, Gyeonggi-Do, one place in Yehyunri, Goryong, Gyeonsangbuk-Do and two spots in Imiwueri and Chuhyunri, Joongmohyun, Sangju. It means that Sangju produced the half of merchandise porcelains. Until now, there have seen 76 spots in Sangju. Considering to be excavated up the wall for picture of Buddha, there are 72 places to be assumed the important spots. It can be found 47 important spots for a white porcelain, 7 important spots for a grayish-blue-powdered celadon, 2 important spots for a grayish-blue-powdered celadon and a white porcelain, 2 important spots for earthenware, 4 important spots for a charcoal kiln, one important spot for earthenware, pottery with a dark brown glaze and a white porcelain, one important spot for earthenware and a grayish-blue-powdered celadon, 2 important spots for a tile, 5 important spots for pottery with a dark brown glaze, 6 important spots for earthenware, a grayish-blue-powdered celadon, a white porcelain and pottery with a dark brown glaze.
