영문 초록

  The military look is the name calling all the clothes designed from the idea of military uniform. This study was designed to survey the history of military uniform which has been ceaselessly developed with changes in the particular circumstances of war from the early age until today, and to examine the examples of military look as expressed in the late collection. The method of study was a bibliographical one, and the clothing and military related materials along with many references, magazine articles and preceding studies on the subject were consulted. In the earlier ages there was no difference between usual clothes and military ones, but in the middle ages there appeared gorgeous metallic armoured ones among the knights of dominant classes under the feudal system. And since the seventeenth century all the soldiers began to wear the military uniform according to the ready troops system. During the eighteenth and nineteenth century the military uniform was so remarkably developed that there appeared most brilliant and gorgeous uniforms in the military history. From the later half of the nineteenth century on, the military uniform developed to fit the need of the functions of military men. In the 2003 spring/summer collection many designs with the element of military look were introduced. Dolce & Gabbbana and John Richmond showed the image of military man with new fabric materials, Valentino took a method of illustrating major details with metallic decoration which could be found in the military look. Especially, Anna Molinari used the military khaki color as a major color of the clothes. As such, many contemporary designers has adopted the military elements and images in different shapes and forms. Thus, the military look is still being reflected in the modern fashion.
