영문 초록

This thesis is studied about cultural tradition and succession of classical novel. First it is confirmed cultural veins of the late period of Choseon dynasty. And it is studied how classical novel could be cope with those current of the times. Subsequently it is studied about cultural enjoyment of classical novel, and is confirmed modern succession. The main contents is summarized as follows. 1. The late period of Choseon dynasty which is diffused classical novel popularly, a fund is important in life. In result, the middle class and common people became an important class of culture with based on finance foundation. So the late period of Choseon dynasty is shown different cultural aspect of the former period of Choseon dynasty. A dynamic feature of common people is shown in music or art, dance, play etc. And in the literary world, the characteristic of common people and popular literature is emphasized. 2. Classical novel is grown with cultural current of the late period of Choseon dynasty. First as well as background of time and space is rationalized, characters are various to a man of humble birth not to speak of common people. And a plot framework is realized. In the main subject, which is related worldly desire is important. For the more, expression is more free. It is because that classical novel is interchanged various genre of all around. 3. Classical novel is functioned from enjoyment to various culture. To static individual reader, it is functioned life culture. That is to say, classical novel is functioned the subject of recreation. And classical novel could be circulated culture of cooperation. At that time it should have attended oral tradition and playing, because many people could not read. In these process, classical novel could have enjoyed as a union culture. 4. It could be succeed to classical novel which fits a present point of view changed cultural paradigm. In modern times, visual media is in fashion. So classical novel must cope with this situation flexibly. Classical novel is won over feature of traditional culture which is accumulated hundreds of years. So it could be apply without limit in these mass culture.
