국문 초록

과거에는 산업기술중심의 표준이 대량생산의 산업사회로 이끄는 견인차 역할을 했다면, 현재는 정보기술중심의 표준이 지식정보사회로 발전하는데 중요한 요소로 부각되고 있으며, 지식정보사회로 나아가면서 GIS는 정보를 통합하고 교류하는데 있어 점차 핵심기술로 인식되어 가고 있는 가운데 국가지리정보의 효율적 관리, 공동활용 및 상호 운용할 수 있는 기준의 설정이 필요하게 되었다. 또한, 현대 지식정보화사회에서의 GIS 패러다임은 GIS를 기존의 정보시스템과 통합하여 일반 사용자들도 쉽게 사용하고 이를 이용하는 데에 초점이 맞추어져 있으며, 최근 위치정보를 근간으로 하는 위치기반서비스 및 텔레매틱스 서비스가 잇따라 등장하는 등 언제 어디서나 정보교류가 가능한 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅이 부상함에 따라 이를 GIS 운영환경에 적극 수용할 수 있도록 새로운 표준을 요구하게 되었다. 이처럼 유비쿼터스라는 새로운 환경에서도 정보화의 중심에 GIS 기술이 자리 매김하고 있는 현실에서 된 연구에서는 정보기술의 신 IT 패러다임으로 자리 매김하고 있는 유비쿼터스의 개념 등을 살펴보고 GIS 표준화 동향에 대하여 중점적으로 살펴봄으로써, 지리공간정보와 관련한 정보기술 분야에 활용되고 있는 GIS 표준화의 큰 흐름을 파악하고자 한다.

영문 초록

In the past, industrial technology centric standardization led us to the industrial society of mass production. But at the present, information Technology centric standardizations are emerging as a critical element for carrying us to a knowledge information society. With GIS being perceived as a key technology to exchange and integrate information, there has been a necessity for the setting up of standards for efficient management. common utilization and interoperability of national geographic information. In the modern knowledge information society. the GIS is focused on integration with the existing information systems for end users to use it easily, but as location-based and telematics services are emerging, it also needs new standards that progressively embrace ubiquitous computing, which enables us to receive and give information. regardless of location. Thus, GIS is well established at the center of informatization even in a new environment such as ubiquitous computing. This study gives an understanding of standardization for GIS used in the IT industry by discussing the concepts of ubiquitous computing, which is positioning itself as a new IT paradigm and examining recent GIS standardization development.
