국가 수준 학업 성취도 평가에서 시각장애 학생을 위한 검사시간 연장의 효과 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 국가수준 학업성취도 평가에 시각장애학생이 참여한다고 할 때 비장애 학생들에게 주어지는 표준 검사시간에 비해 어느 정도의 시간 연장이 적절한지에 대한 문제의식에서 출발하여, 현행 수능시험에서의 시각장애학생에 대한 검사 조정 조건이 적정한지를 확인하고 이에 관한 기초자료를 축적하기 위하여 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 197명의 시각장애학교 고등부 1,2학년 학생 197명을 대상으로 1차 평가는 현행 수능시험에서의 시간 연장 조건에서, 2차 평가는 최대 시간 연장이라는 조건에서 국어와 수학교과 학업성취도 평가를 실시하여 1차와 2차의 평가 결과를 비교하였다. 분석 결과 2차 평가의 경우 1차 평가에서보다 대체적으로 검사 점수가 높아지는 것으로 나타났으며, 그 향상 정도를 살펴보면 반복 응시에 따른 ‘연습 효과’ 이상으로 시간 연장이 검사결과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 시각장애학생을 포함하여 장애학생들의 학업성취도를 타당하게 평가하기 위해서는 시간 연장에 따른 구체적인 검사 점수 변화를 조사하는 후속 연구가 진행되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to build up for the appropriate and continuous system for participation of students with disabilities in nation-wide educational assessment program. In pursuit of this purpose, we had some students with disabilities 'formally' participate in the 2003 KICE National Assessment of Educational Achievement(NAEA) program. For this purpose, academic achievement level in relation to time extension was analyzed. Although the purpose of this study was evaluating the validity of various test accommodations practices for students with disabilities, the present study focused on the students with visual handicap and testing accommodations option to time extension. Thus, we mainly analyzed the validity of current time extension practices(1.5 times of standard for the blind, 20 minutes extension per session for the weak-sighted) for students with visual handicap. The subjects(students with visual handicap) were 197(middle school students 86, high school students 111). The instruments were the verbal and math tests of 2001 & 2002 KICE NAEA program. We standardized the test scores using the norm of students without disabilities. Then, we compared the gain scores in order to evaluate the differential effect In spite of the limitation of this study, possibility of 'differential boost' was detected. This result was interpreted that the more time extension for the students with visual impairment was needed. Finally, the follow-up study on the 'appropriate' testing time and accommodations for the students with visual impairment was proposed.
