시 읽기 활동을 통한 장애 성인의 인문교양 평생학습 경험 탐색 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 경상북도 C군 소재 공공도서관의 장애인 학습자 대상 찾아가는 인문교양 프로그램‘시와 함께하는 희망 낭송’에 참여한 장애 성인 학습자를 대상으로 시 읽기 활동을 통한 평생학습 경험을 심층적으로 탐색하고, 이를 통해 인문교양 평생학습의 실천적 의미와 교육적 함의를 도출하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 프로그램에 참여한 장애 성인 학습자 5명을 대상으로 개별심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였고, 이를 바탕으로 참여자의 인문교양 평생학습 경험과 변화에 관한 내용분석을 진행하였다. 연구결과, 시 읽기 활동은 단순한 문학 향유를 넘어서 언어적 표현 능력, 감성적 교류, 언어인지 및 활용의 확장, 사회적 상호작용 등 다양한 차원에서 변화를 이끌어내는 교육적 효과를 지닌 것으로 나타났다. 이는 곧 장애 성인의 자아 인식 향상, 자신감 증진, 타인과의 관계 형성 등에 긍정적인 영향을 미침으로써 학습자의 삶의 질 향상과 평생학습의 가치 실현에 기여하고 있음을 확인하였다. 이 연구결과를 바탕으로 향후 장애 성인을 위한 시 읽기 등 문학 기반 평생학습 프로그램 활성화를 위한 논의와 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the lifelong learning experiences of adults with disabilities who participated in the community-based humanities program “Hope Recitation with Poetry” provided by a public library in C County, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Through poetry reading activities, the study sought to derive the practical meanings and educational implications of humanities-oriented lifelong learning. To achieve this purpose, individual in-depth interview were conducted with five adult learners with disabilities who participated in the program, and the collected data were analyzed using content analysis. The results showed that poetry reading activities, beyond literary appreciation, had educational effects in various dimensions, including the development of language expression, emotional exchange, expansion of linguistic cognition and use, and promotion of social interaction. These experiences contributed to participants’ improved self-awareness, enhanced confidence, and the building of interpersonal relationships. Consequently, poetry reading positively influenced the quality of life of adults with disabilities and confirmed the value of lifelong learning. Based on these findings, this study suggests discussions and recommendations for the revitalization of literature-based lifelong learning programs for adults with disabilities.
