국문 초록

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is a globally important fruit, valued for its rich nutritional content and vibrant color—an essential quality trait influencing both visual appeal and health benefits. Tomato fruit color is primarily regulated by the biosynthesis and accumulation of carotenoids and flavonoids in fruit tissues. This study investigated the genetic basis of color variation by analyzing gene-based markers in two parental lines and their segregating F2 progeny. Marker polymorphisms in three key genes, PSY1, SGR1, and SlMYB12, each playing a distinct role in pigmentation, were detected between the parental lines with green (HD317) and red (KNU17) tomato fruit. The observed genotypic and phenotypic segregation patterns confirmed that allelic variation in these loci reliably predicts eight different fruit colors, either individually or in combination. The inheritance patterns also followed the expected Mendelian ratios, affirming the genetic stability of these markers. These findings highlight the potential of these markers for marker-assisted selection in tomato breeding programs aimed at enhancing fruit color and nutritional quality.
