국문 초록

본 연구는 기독교인의 종교음악에 대한 보수적 태도를 파악하고, 그런 태도가 종교성이나 영적 안녕감과 어떤 관계가 있는지를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 종교음악에 대한 태도는 오랜 신앙 경험 속에서 형성된다는 것을 감안하여 10년 이상 신앙생활을 해온 기독교인 273명을 대상으로 온라인으로 설문조사를 하였다. 연구 결과, 내적 종교성이 강한 기독교인일수록 종교음악에 대해 전통적 형식을 선호하는 보수적인 태도를 보였으며, 외적 종교성의 하위요인 중 사회적 종교성이 강한 참여자들은 종교음악에 대해 보다 개방적인 태도를 나타냈다. 또한 종교음악 보수성은 영적 안녕감 중 실존적 안녕감이 아닌 종교적 안녕감과 유의한 정적 상관을 보여, 전통적 종교음악 선호가 신과의 관계에 기반한 영적 안정감과 연결되어 있음을 발견하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 종교음악에 대한 태도가 개인의 신앙 내면화 방식과 종교적 동기에 따라 달라질 수 있음을 보여주며, 예배 음악의 기획과 적용에 있어 기독교인들의 다양한 종교적 성향을 고려할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to examine the conservative attitudes of Christians toward religious music and to investigate how such attitudes relate to religiosity and spiritual well-being. Based on the assumption that attitudes toward religious music are shaped through long-term faith experience, an online survey was conducted with 273 Christians who had practiced their faith for more than ten years. The results revealed that Christians with higher intrinsic religiosity tended to prefer traditional forms of religious music, reflecting more conservative attitudes. In contrast, participants with higher levels of social religiosity—a subfactor of extrinsic religiosity— showed more open attitudes toward religious music, expressing greater acceptance of contemporary or popular styles. Furthermore, a significant positive correlation was found between conservative attitudes toward religious music and religious well-being, but not with existential well-being. This suggests that the preference for traditional religious music is closely tied to a sense of spiritual stability grounded in one's relationship with God. These findings indicate that attitudes toward religious music vary according to the internalization of faith and the motivation behind religious practice, highlighting the need to consider diverse religious orientations when planning and implementing worship music.
