국문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the importance of Bible translation and analyze terms such as literal translation from the perspective of translation studies. The spread of Christianity is certainly related to Bible translation, and Bible translation can be seen as having a very long and diverse history. The first thing that the early foreign Protestant missionaries did upon arriving in Joseon was to translate the Bible. Based on this, I examined the importance of translation in relation to the roles of missionaries and early Christian leaders in the background of the widespread distribution of the Bible in Korea, and found the significance of this study by examining Bible translation from the perspective of translation studies.

영문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 성경 번역의 중요성을 고찰하고, 직역과 같은 용어들을 번역학적 관점에서 분석하는 데 있다. 기독교의 확산은 성경 번역과 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 성경 번역은 매우 오랜 역사와 다양한 형태를 지니고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 초기 개신교 외국 선교사들이 조선에 도착하자마자 가장 먼저 수행한 일은 성경 번역이었으며, 이를 바탕으로 성경의 한국 내 보급 배경 속에서 선교사와 초기 기독교 지도자들의 역할과 관련하여 번역의 중요성을 살펴보았다. 이러한 분석을 통해 성경 번역을 번역학적 관점에서 조명함으로써 본 연구의 학문적 의의를 도출하고자 하였다.
