미술작품을 활용한 수학탐구활동이 유아의 수학적 능력과 수학적 성향에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 미술작품을 활용한 수학탐구활동이 유아의 수학적 능력과 수학적 성향에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 W시 B유치원에 재원 중인 만 5세 17명을 실험집단으로, 같은 유치원 옆 반 만 5세 17명을 비교집단으로 선정하였다. 실험집단에는 미술작품을 활용한 수학탐구활동을 실시하였고, 비교집단에는 실험집단의 수학탐구활동과 동일한 수학적 개념을 경험할 수 있는 교구를 중심으로 한 수학활동을 실시하였다. 실험집단과 비교집단의 수학활동 전후에 유아의 수학적 능력과 수학적 성향 검사도구를 사용하여 사전검사와 사후검사를 하여 연구자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 24.0 통계프로그램을 이용하여 공변량분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 실험집단과 비교집단의 사후검사 결과는 사전검사 결과 보다 두 집단 모두 향상되었지만, 그 차이는 실험집단에서 크게 나타났고, 이러한 차이는 통계적으로 유의미하게 나타났다. 이러한 결과, 미술작품을 활용한 수학탐구활동이 유아의 수학적 능력과 수학적 성향에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of mathematical exploration activities using visual art on children’s mathematical abilities and disposition. In this study, the experimental group and comparison group consisted of thirty-four 5-year-old children from B Kindergarten located in W City. To verify the effects of the math exploration activities using visual art, children in the experimental group experienced mathematical exploration activities using visual art, while the children in the comparison group experienced mathematical activities using mathematical teaching materials. Moreover data were collected from a pre-and post-test on mathematical abilities and disposition, and were analyzed using SPSS version 24.0, a statistical analysis software. After calculating the mean and standard deviation of the overall scores and subcategory scores of the children’s mathematical abilities and mathematical disposition, analysis of covariance(ANCOVA) was conducted. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, math exploration activities using visual artworks positively affected the children’s mathematical abilities. Second, math exploration activitied using visual artworks positively affects on children’s mathematical disposition.
