국문 초록

이 연구는 자문화기술지 연구방법을 사용하여 모성 이데올로기 규범 안에서 발달장애자녀를 양육하면서 경험하게 되는 어머니의 개별적 모성 경험에 대하여 성찰해 나가는 과정을 담아냈다. 연구결과는 첫째, 발달장애어머니로서 나는 자녀의 질병과 장애를 자신의 탓으로 돌리며 죄책감을 느낀다. 어머니는 자녀의 질병으로 인하여 원인 제공의 비난을 받기도 하고 이상적인 좋은 어머니 역할 사이에서 갈등한다. 둘째, 개선되기 어려운 자녀의 장애로 인하여 어머니 역할을 잘 해내지 못한다 는 비난은 더욱 강화된다. 장애극복 신화는 어머니 역할을 잘 해내지 못한다는 죄책감을 가중시키며, 끝없는 돌봄과 함께 비난은 지속된다. 셋째, 이상적인 어머니 역할을 내려놓고 완벽할 수 없는 자신을 성찰한다. 자녀와 심리적 분리를 통해 어머니 자신의 자아를 실현하고 자녀와 함께 행복해질 수 있는 방법을 모색한다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 향후 발달장애어머니의 독특한 모성 경험에 대한 인식 재고(再考)와 실질적인 양육지원 대책이 마련되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study tried to contain the process of reflecting on the individual maternal experiences going through while raising children with developmental disabilities within the norms of maternal ideology using the self-cultural descriptive research method. Followings are the results of the research. First, a mother of a child with developmental disabilities feels guilty for her child s illness and disability while blaming herself. A mother is often criticized for giving the cause to her child s illness, and struggles with the idealized role of a good mother. Second, the accusation of the lack of mother s roles is further strengthened due to the child s disability that is difficult to improve. The myth of overcoming disability aggravates the guilt of the lack of mother s roles, and the criticism continues along with endless care. Lastly, a mother reflects on herself, who cannot be perfect, letting go of the role of the ideal mother. The mother seeks ways to realize the self and become happy with their children through psychological separation from her children. It is supposed to be possible, based on the results of this study, to raise awareness about the unique maternal experience of mothers with developmental disabilities and to emphasize the need to provide practical childcare support.
