영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the reclusive experiences of the reclusive youth, to provide them with a deep and in-depth understanding of the youth’s reclusive experiences, and to collect basic data for further studies. We used phenomenological research methods to understand and to help the participants in the study through techniques that understand the individual meaning of the research phenomena. The data were collected from interviews with five youths within three years of their experience in seclusion, meeting the criteria for diagnosis of reclusive loners as suggested by the youth commission (2005). The analysis of the collected data was analyzed in accordance with the Giorgi (1985) four-step data analysis procedure. As a result, the nine components of ‘struggling with the world’, ‘escape from the world’, ‘recognizing that happiness is in the world’, ‘efforts to live in the world’, ‘start communicating with the world’, ‘regret about the missed things’, ‘time to understand yourself’, ‘crouching time to fly higher’, ‘the beginning of a new wings’ were derived. 29 subcomponents were further derived from the nine components. This study is the first of its kind to express empirically the meaning of the reclusive and reclusive phenomena of adolescents, and could be used as basic data on how to understand and approach the reclusive phenomenon in follow-up research or counseling.
