국문 초록

형이상학에서 특수구성문제(SCQ)는 형이상학에서 어떤 조건에서 물체가 구성되느냐를 다루는 문제이다. 반 인와겐(Van Inwagen)은 1990년 그의 저서 『물질적 존재(Material Beings)』에서 관련 논의를 제기한다. 특수구성문제에는 보편주의 특수주의 등 여러 답변이 있었지만, 여전히 학자들이 보편적으로 동의하는 확실한 답은 없는 것이 실정이다. 본 글에서는 특수구성문제에 대한 답변들 중 채드 카마이클(Chad Carmichael)의 사건기반 대상(event-based object)과 덩어리같은 대상(lump-like object)에 대한 구분을 중점적으로 다룰 것이다. 특별히 그는 사건을 구성하고 있는 요소를 분류하기 위해 사용하는 개념으로 활동적(active)으로 사건에 참여함을 제시한다. 필자는 그러한 구분이 임의성에 대해 적절한 답을 제시할 수 없음을 지적할 것이다. 따라서 필자는 그의 논의에서 추가로 검토되어야만 하는 추가적 기준을 이야기할 것이다. 부분은 적절한 관계에 의해 전체의 구성요소로 간주 되는데, 이는 통일성이다. 통일성이 건전하게 부분들이 서로 결합함을 보증하기 위해서는 둘 이상의 대상이 서로 구성되었을 때 발생할 현상적 특징을 검토해야 한다. 통일성은 대상과 다른 대상 사이의 겹침(overlap) 관계로 정당화될 것이다. 이를 위해 적절한 겹침관계의 모델을 제시하고 실제 사례에서 모델이 적용됨을 보일 것이다.

영문 초록

In metaphysics, the special composition question (SCQ) is a problem that deals with the conditions under which objects are constructed in metaphysics. Van Inwagen raises a related discussion in his 1990 book Material Beings. There have been several answers to the special composition question such as universalism and specialism, but there are still no definite answers that scholars generally agree on. In this article, we will focus on the distinction between Chad Carmichael's event-based object and lump-like object among answers to special composed question. In particular, he suggests participating in an event as active as a concept used to classify the elements constituting the event. I will point out that such a distinction cannot provide an appropriate answer to randomness. Therefore, I will talk about additional criteria that must be further examined in his discussion. The part is regarded as a component of the whole by an appropriate relationship, which is unity. In order to ensure that the parts are soundly combined with each other, it is necessary to review the phenomenal characteristics that occur when two or more objects are composed with each other. To this end, unity will be justified by an overlap relationship between the object and other objects. and also, an appropriate overlap relationship model will be presented and the model will be applied in real cases.
