국문 초록

본 논문은 요한계시록 19장 11-21절과 20장 7-10절을 중심으로요한계시록의 종말론적 전쟁의 서사 구조와 신학적 의미를 분석한다. 종말론적 전쟁을 다루고 있는 이 두 본문 모두 에스겔서 38-39장의 전쟁 본문을 강하게 암시하고 있다. 먼저 에스겔서 38-39장의 ‘곡과 마곡’ 전쟁에 자주 나타나는 “그들이 내가 여호와인 줄 알리라”라는 여호와 인식 공식(recognition formula)에 주목하여, 곡과 마곡 전쟁의 신학적 의미를 조명한다. 에스겔의 종말론적 전쟁의 신학적 의미와 내러티브의 구조는 요한계시록의 종말론적 전쟁과 깊은 연관성을 가지며, 궁극적으로 요한계시록의 종말론적 전쟁의 신학적 의미를 밝히는데, 중요한 단서가 된다. 에스겔서에 등장하는 곡과 마곡에대한 심판은 더럽혀진 하나님의 이름을 회복하기 위한 전쟁으로 표현되고 있는데, 에스겔서의 이러한 전쟁의 의미가 요한계시록과 신학적으로 연속성을 갖고 있음을 논증한다. 요한계시록 19장 11-21절과 20장 7-10절은, 그리스도의 재림과 함께 예고된 종말의 전쟁이 악한세력들과 만방에 대하여 하나님의 권위를 계시하고, 하나님의 거룩한이름에 대한 명예를 회복시키기 위해 벌이시는 전쟁이라는 사실을 에스겔서와 관련되어 일관되게 시사한다. 본 논문은 요한계시록과 에스겔서에 공통으로 사용되고 있는 곡과 마곡 내러티브의 문학적 구조와신학적 의미를 드러냄으로써, 요한계시록의 종말론적 전쟁 담론에대한 새로운 통찰을 제시한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the narrative structure and theological significance of the eschatological war in the Book of Revelation, focusing on Revelation 19:11-21 and 20:7-10. Both passages, which depict eschatological warfare, strongly allude to the war narratives in Ezekiel 38-39. Particular attention is given to the recognition formula frequently found in Ezekiel’s Gog and Magog narrative— “Then they will know that I am the Lord”—as a theological key to understanding the meaning of this war. The theological significance and narrative structure of Ezekiel’s eschatological war are shown to have deep connections with the war scenes in Revelation, providing important clues for interpreting the latter. The judgment upon Gog and Magog in Ezekiel is portrayed as a war waged to vindicate God’s profaned name, and this theological motif is demonstrated to be theologically continuous with Revelation’s eschatological warfare. Revelation 19:11-21 and 20:7-10 consistently suggest that the final war, inaugurated by the return of Christ, is fought to reveal God’s supreme authority over all evil powers and to restore the honor of His holy name—echoing the theology of Ezekiel. By highlighting the literary structure and theological meaning of the Gog and Magog narrative shared by both Ezekiel and Revelation, this paper offers new insights into the discourse of eschatological warfare in the Book of Revelation.
