국문 초록

자율운항선박은 첨단 인공지능 기술로 항해, 충돌 회피 등을 수행하여 해상 운송의 혁신을 예고하고 있다. 그러나 완전한 자율화에도 불구하고 안전 확보를 위해 인간과 AI의 유기적 협력이 필수적이라는 연구 결과가 제시되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내 자율운항선박 개발에 앞서 인간 -AI 상호작용 관점에서 준비해야 할 과제를 고찰하였다. 인간 운영자가 단순한 백업 이상으로 적극적 역할을 수행해야 한다는 개념적 모델, 원격 육상 관제센터 운영자 인터페이스와 기능, 그리고 STPA와 BN을 결합한 위험 평가 기법을 다룬다. 또한 관련 제도 정비와 전문인력 양성 등 실용화를 위한 준비 사항을 논의한다. 이를 통해 자율운항선박 시대에 인간과 AI의 조화를 극대화하는 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Maritime autonomous surface ships (MASS) promise to revolutionize maritime transport through advanced AI-driven navigation and collision avoidance. However, research indicates that even with high levels of autonomy, a human-AI cooperative approach is essential to ensure safety. This paper examines the preparatory tasks for domestic MASS development from a human-AI interaction perspective. We discuss a conceptual model in which human operators play active roles beyond mere backup, an overview of the Shore Control Center operator interface and functions, and a risk assessment methodology combining System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) and Bayesian Networks (BN). Furthermore, we address practical readiness issues including regulatory updates and training for new operator competencies. Through this, we outline how to maximize human-AI synergy for the safe implementation of autonomous ships.
