국문 초록

This study analyzed the relationship between personality traits and the intention to care for pets among dog and cat owners in their 20s using the MBTI personality type test. Data were collected via a Google survey distributed to 213 student pet owners from five universities in Busan, with the survey period spanning from March 2023 to May 2025. The questionnaire comprised age, gender, companion animal parenting willingness, and three MBTI indicators, and data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests with SPSS software. The results showed that females accounted for 81% of the respondents, with 64% owning dogs, 28% owning cats, and 8% owning both. The MBTI analysis indicated relatively high proportions of Introversion (I), Feeling (F), and Perceiving (P) types. Notably, the Judging-Perceiving (J-P) and Sensing-Intuition (S-N) dimensions of the MBTI had significant effects on pet parenting willingness, with Perceiving and Intuition types showing higher willingness to care for pets. These findings suggest that individual personality traits can influence pet care behaviors and may provide foundational data for developing youth-targeted pet policies and tailored support programs.
