국문 초록

This study investigates how differences in social status between speaker and listener influence prosodic realization in Korean addressee honorifics. Focusing on four speech levels—hapsyo-che, haeyo-che, hara-che, and hae-che— acoustic data were collected from female speakers in their 20s who produced identical sentences under varying status conditions. Quantitative analysis of speech rate and final mean F0 revealed significant prosodic variation across speech levels, with certain levels showing status-related pitch modulation. These findings suggest that Korean speech levels function as strategic prosodic devices that reflect the speaker's social perception, beyond mere grammatical categories.
