국문 초록

세계복음주의연맹(World Evangelical Alliance, 이하 WEA)은 WCC, 가톨릭과 함께 기독교계의 3대 국제기구 중의 하나다. WEA는 1846년 영국 런던에서 자유주의의 도전에 함께 대처하며 세계복음화를 위하여 결성된 복음주의 연맹(Evangelical Alliance)에 기원을 두고 있다. 1951년에 WEF(World Evangelical Fellowship)로 조직되었고, 2001년 WEA로 명칭을 변경했다. 한국교회에서는 한국복음주의협의회(한복협)와 한국기독교총연합회(한기총)가 WEA 회원으로 있다. WEA는 믿음을 통한 구원과 하나님의 말씀으로서 성서의 권위를 강조하고, 온건한 종교대화, 은사주의를 수용하는 등 포용적 복음주의 입장을 견지하고 있다. 한국에서는 닫힌 복음주의와 열린 복음주의가 있다. 닫힌 복음주의는 일부 보수진영(고신, 대신, 합신, 합동측)이 가진 독선적 성향이다. 일부 기장의 진보주의도 폐쇄적이고 독선적이다. 열린 복음주의는 근본주의의 경향을 비판한다. WEA 운동은 1974년 “로잔언약” 이후 개인구원 신앙에서 사회구원 신앙으로 넓어진 사회참여신학을 추구한다. 이것은 “로잔언약”의 복음전파와 사회참여 짝(pair)론이다. WEA와 WCC는 세계무대에서 서로 협력하고 있다. 양자는 2010년 에딘버러에서 열린 세계선교백주년기념대회에서 상호협력했다. WEA는 2011년 로마 교황청과 WCC와 함께 기독교인의 신앙 간증 행동지침 문서인 <다종교 세계에서의 기독교 증거> (Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World: Recommendations for Conduct)를 집필했다. WEA 신학위원장 쉬르마허는 WCC부산 총회에 참여했고 WCC부산 총회의 2013년 선교선언문에 대해 동의했다. WEA는 한기총의 “WCC 반대집회 무관” 발표에 대하여 “WEA의 공식입장 아니다”라고 밝혔다. 문명사적으로는 포스트모던 시대에 직면하고 이슬람의 도전이 강력한 이때에 WEA과 WCC는 그리스도 중심의 신앙을 공유하면서 세계선교를 위하여 협력해야 한다.

영문 초록

World Evangelical Alliance(WEA) is one of three international Christian organizations including WCC and Catholics. WEA has its origin in “Evangelical Alliance” organized for coping with the challenge of liberalism and for the world evangelism in London. Organized as WEF(World Evangelical Fellowship) in 1951, it changed its name into WEA in 2001. It has affiliations of KEF and CCK. WEA has kept the stance of moderate evangelicalism, stressing the salvation through faith and the authority of the Bible as the Word of God, and accepting moderate religious dialogue and charismatism. There are two kinds of evangelicalism such as closed and open one in Korea. Closed evangelicalism is a dogmatic disposition that appears in some conservative denominations such as Kosin, Daesin, Hapsin, Hapdong, etc. However, the closed and dogmatic mentality is also found in the progressivism of the Kijang denomination. Open evangelicalism stands in critical stance to fundamentalism. Since the Lausanne Covenant, WEA movement has sought for the theology of social participation that has extended theological perspective from the faith in individual salvation to the faith in social salvation. It contributes to the doctrine on the pair of evangelism and social participation. WEA cooperated with WCC at the world stage. Both participated in the centennial memorial Conference of World Mission held in Edinburgh in 2010. WEA and WCC along with the Roman Catholics authored in 2011 the guide document, “Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World: Recommendations for Conduct.” The chairman of the theological commission of WEA, Thomas Schirrmacher participated in the WCC 10th Busan Conference, and agreed to the WCC 2013 Mission statement of the Busan General Assembly. WEA expressed “it is not our official stance” in terms of the stance of CCK that “the WCC-opposing gathering has nothing to do with us.” Facing the postmodern age in the civilization history and the strong challenge of the Islam, WEA and WCC have to cooperate for the world mission on the basis of having the Christ-centered faith in common.
