국문 초록
(Purpose) This study focuses on the phenomenon of quiet quitting that is prevalent among local university professors in the current poor educational environment. Accordingly, we investigated the factors influencing the quiet quitting of university professors and sought counter measures to prevent it.
(Design/methodology/approach) After selecting local universities other than those in Seoul and the metropolitan area through non-probability convenience sampling, we conducted a visit survey of professors at each university, and attempted to secure the accuracy of the survey by asking about the contents of the questionnaire and having the professors answer directly. In addition, we conducted basic statistics, factor, correlation, and regression analyses with a total of 205 responses, and after the responses of the one-on-one survey subjects were completed, we conducted additional interviews to more clearly understand the professors’ perceptions.
(Findings) As a result, a group of university administrators needs to prevent the formation of a toxic organizational culture by providing timely feedback on professors’ work activities and allowing professors to participate in citizen crafting at their own discretion. In addition, in order to improve professors’ perception of interactive fairness, feedback on professors’ performance activities should be provided in a timely and accurate manner, and complaints from professors should be listened to build an atmosphere of mutual openness. In addition, by reducing the workload of professors who are exhausted from various evaluations and inefficient administrative work and periodically implementing various support and education programs to help them understand the social psychology of MZ generation students, it is possible to recover from professors’ work burnout and prevent quiet quitting behavior in advance. Lastly, we need to minimize the workload of professors by improving the efficiency of academic operations and reduce job stress caused by discord among fellow professors through institutional approaches such as meal cost support to ensure smooth communication among professors.
(Research implications or Originality) This study has the significance of serving as a foundation for future research on quiet quitting behavior by theoretically addressing the issue of quiet quitting by local university professors. However, there are limitations to in-depth discussions based on the abundant existing studies. If a separate comparative study is conducted in the future targeting a group of university administrators or universities in the metropolitan area, a more in-depth study will be possible. system should be established to guide elderly to participate this program well and to continuously manage them.
