나이관련황반변성 환자의 흡연 행태에 대한 연구: 국민건강영양조사 2015-2021

국문 초록

목적: 나이관련황반변성 진단을 받은 환자들의 흡연 행태를 조사하고자 한다. 대상과 방법: 본 연구는 2015년부터 2021년까지 실시된 국민건강영양조사의 데이터를 활용하여 나이관련황반변성 진단을 받은 357명을 대상으로 하였다. 이들의 현재 흡연 상태, 금연 계획, 금연 기간과 유병 기간 간의 관계를 조사하였다. 결과: 전체 연구 대상자 357명 중 11.5% (n = 34)가 현재 흡연자였으며, 현재 흡연자의 32.8% (n = 12)는 향후 금연할 계획이 없다고응답하였다. 나이관련황반변성 치료를 받는 환자의 13.1% (n = 13)가 현재 흡연 중인 것으로 나타났으며 치료를 받는 그룹과 치료를받지 않은 그룹 간의 흡연 행태에는 유의미한 차이가 없었다(p = 0.344). 나이관련황반변성의 유병 기간과 금연 기간 간 통계적으로유의미한 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다(R = 0.018, p = 0.903). 결론: 나이관련황반변성 환자 중 일부는 치료 여부와 관계없이 현재 흡연 중이었으며, 현재 흡연 중인 환자 중 상당 비율이 금연 의지가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 나이관련황반변성 환자와의 상담 시 흡연이 질병에 미치는 영향에 대해 교육하고 그 위험성을 인식시키는 것이 중요할 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the smoking behavior of individuals with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Methods: This study included 357 individuals with AMD using representative data from the 2015-2021 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. We investigated their current smoking status, plans to quit smoking, and the relationship between the duration of smoking cessation and AMD. Results: Among the 357 participants, 11.5% (n = 34) were current smokers; 32.8% (n = 12) of them had no plans to quit smoking and 13.1% (n = 13) underwent AMD treatment. There was no significant difference in smoking status between the AMD treatment and non-treatment groups (p = 0.344). No significant correlation was found between the duration of smoking cessation and AMD (R = 0.018, p = 0.903). Conclusions: Some patients with AMD were current smokers, regardless of whether they received AMD treatment, and a significant percentage of current smokers with AMD had no plans to quit smoking. Therefore, patients with AMD must be educated about the impact of smoking on the disease to raise awareness of its risks.
