국문 초록
본 연구는 북한 중등 지리 교과서에 나타난 경제지리 서술을 중심으로 북한의 정치경제적 공간 인식과 이념적 특성을 분석하였다. 김정일 시기와 김정은 시기의 교과서를 비교한 결과, 자립적 민족경제 건설, 지도자 중심의 서사, 계획경제 원리의 공간적 표현, 체제 비교 담론 등이 경제지리 서술의 핵심 특성으로 확인되었다. 김정은 시기의 변화는 ‘기조의 지속’과 ‘방법의 변화’라는 이중적 특성으로 요약되며, 자립경제 담론과 지도자 중심 서사는 여전히 핵심 축으로 유지되면서도 교육 내용과 방법론에서는 현대화가 이루어졌다. 본 연구는 북한의 경제지리 서술이 단순한 지식 전달이 아닌 체제의 정치경제적 목표와 이념이 공간적으로 구현되는 방식을 보여주는 중요한 통로임을 확인하였다.
영문 초록
This study investigates the ideological underpinnings and political-economic spatial perceptions embedded within the economic geography narratives of North Korean secondary geography textbooks. Through a comparative content analysis of textbooks from the Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un periods, the analysis identifies recurring themes such as the construction of a self-reliant national economy, leader-centered narratives, spatial articulations of planned economic principles, and discourses of systemic comparison. The Kim Jong Un era, in particular, is characterized by a dual trajectory of ‘principled continuity’ and ‘methodological transformation’, wherein the core discourses of self-reliant economic development and leader-centric narratives are sustained, while educational content and pedagogical approaches undergo processes of modernization. The findings suggest that North Korea’s economic geography education functions not merely as a vehicle for knowledge transmission, but as a strategic instrument for spatializing the regime’s political-economic objectives and sustaining ideological conformity.
