This study qualitatively examined the characteristics of communality in online communities. Online communities possess features that transcend physical and temporal constraints, offering the potential to foster a type of communality differing from that of traditional offline communities. In this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with three working mothers who frequently participated in online communities, focusing on their interactions with others in the community and how these interactions influenced their daily lives and interpersonal relationships offline. The results indicated that features unique to online communities, including asynchronous communication and archiving functions, promote the con-struction of flexible and diverse forms of communality, positively influencing the participants’ career development and interpersonal relationships. This study sheds light on new possibilities for communality in online communities and provides a fresh perspective on previous community research.
