국문 초록

To quantify the temperature reduction resulting from the effect of water sprinkling under a fully developed fire in a compartment, a series of heating and water sprinkling experiments were simultaneously conducted in a refractory furnace (4 m × 4 m × 2 m). The cooling effect of each experiment was examined by varying factors, such as the sprinkler head, water flow rate, spray height, and so on. The results of the experiments revealed that temperature reduction by water spraying is smaller as temperature in the fire room is lower. An estimation model of water evaporation rate based on the mass balance in the furnace was validated by comparing it with the experimental data on evaporation rate. Moreover, the cooling effect of water ranged from 15.4% to 73% according to heat balance analysis in the furnace. Furthermore, this study indicates that increasing the water flow rate can enhance the cooling effect. However, there is upper limits of the cooling effect under conditions that the temperature of the water sprayed surface was below 100 °C because water is hard to evaporate on the surface.
