국문 초록

이 논문은 1920년대 초반 아일랜드의 독립전쟁과 이후 독립을 둘러싼 정치적 갈등에서 비롯된 아일랜드의 내전을 배경으로 종교와 중산층의 기득권을 유지하려는 자유국을 지지하는 테디와 공화국의 완전한 통일과 독립을 주장하며 노동자의 이상적인 세상을 꿈꾸는 다미엔이 결국은 서로를 파멸시키는 갈등과 비극을 사회주의적 관점에서 분석한다. ≪보리밭을 흔드는 바람≫에서 로치는 역사적 사실의 교묘하고도 의도적인 왜곡을 통해 관객들이 실체를 파악할 수 있도록 영화를 제작했으며 역사적 사실보다는 진정한 의미를 이해하는 것이 더 중요하다고 주장한다.

영문 초록

This paper analyzes the conflict and tragedy between two brothers, set against the backdrop of the Irish Civil War, which arose from the political strife surrounding Ireland’s independence and the Revolutionary War in the early 1920s. Teddy supports the Free State, which aims to preserve religious and middle-class privileges, while Damien advocates for the complete unification and independence of the Republic, envisioning an ideal world for workers. The analysis is conducted from a socialist perspective. In The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Ken Loach creates the film by skillfully and intentional distorting historical facts, allowing the audience to grasp the underlying truths. Loach asserts that understanding the deeper meaning of history is more important than adhering strictly to historical accuracy.
