코로나 백신관련 과학주의 담론과 정치적 성향: 맘스홀릭베이비 회원들을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구는 코로나 시기, 코로나 백신 대한 맘카페 회원들의 담론을 살펴본다. 회원들은 코로나 백신도입에 대해 객관적인 과학적 사실을 바탕으로 자기주장을 편다고 자부한다. 하지만 이들의 이러한 자부심과 달리 백신접종 여부를 결정할 때 이들은 객관적인 과학에 의존하기보다 주관적인 태도와 정치적 성향으로 포장한 과학을 내세우는 경향이 강하다. 게다가 대부분의 맘카페 주부들은 정작 이런 자신의 주관적이고 정치적인 태도를 자각하지 못하는 경향이 있다. 구체적으로 이러한 유형을 3가지로 나누어 살펴보고자 한다. 그 중 하나는 과학이라는 명분으로 문재인 정부를 불신하고 백신 음모론을 신뢰하는 유형이고 다른 하나는, 이와 반대로 스스로 수집한 주변의 정보와 자신의 개인적인 경험을 바탕으로 정부 정책을 지지하고 과학기술의 안정성을 강조하는 유형, 마지막으로 과학이나 과학적이라고 믿는 정보를 너무 신뢰한 나머지 이와 관련된 정보를 무비판적으로 다 받아들이며 정보의 혼돈에 빠지는 유형이다. 이와 같이 주부가 사이버커뮤니티에서 코로나 백신에 대한 입장과 정치적 이념을 나타내는 현상에 대해 살펴본다. 현재 한국주부의 새로운 인식을 논함으로써 지금까지 기존연구에서 살펴보지 못한 면을 확인할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines the discourse of “momcafe” members during the COVID -19 pandemic regarding COVID-19 vaccination. Members of this community pride themselves on making claims based on objective scientific facts. However, despite this pride, when deciding on vaccination, they tend to rely more on subjective attitudes and politically framed science rather then objective science. Furthermore, many of these members are often unaware of their own subjective and political biases. This issue will be explored in three specific aspects: first, the distrust of the Moon Jae-in administration and the belief in vaccine conspiracy theories under the guise of science, second, the support of government policies and emphasis on the credibility of science and technology based on personal experiences and surrounding information, and lastly, the problem of falling into confusion due to an excessive trust in science or information that is deemed scientific, leading to an uncritical acceptance of related information. The existing research on Korean housewives has largely focused on their emotions and child-rearing concerns. This study aims to uncover a new perspective on current Korean housewives by dealing with aspects that have not been examined in previous research.
