국문 초록

Looking at the trends in contemporary art, there's a growing tendency to incorporate traditional symbols into modern design, which is also expanding within the global art and beauty industries. Based on this potential for expansion, this study reflects the character of the Confucian scholars of the Joseon Dynasty and takes sagunja (the four gracious plants), a prominent motif in scholar painting, as its inspiration. By examining the symbolism of sagunja, this paper aims to revisit the humble virtues of these scholars and incorporate them into makeup art masks, thereby fostering a fusion of traditional Korean art and beauty and promoting a global appreciation for Korea's unique aesthetic. This study used the modern technique of ‘dip resin art’ to create art masks. The harmony between traditional Korean aesthetics and contemporary materials represents an intriguing blend of the old and the new, tailored to modern tastes. This approach has the potential to create new trends in the beauty industry, demonstrating the artistic value of art masks and serving as a valuable academic resource. This paper illustrates how the traditional symbolism of sagunjacan be innovatively applied to enhance the cultural value and global appeal of K-beauty art. By integrating the virtues of sagunjainto art masks, this study targets to globalize the beautiful aspects of traditional Korean culture and provide fresh insights and inspiration to the industry. This development aspires not only to be innovative and aesthetically pleasing but also to be rich in cultural significance and ethical values, contributing to the ongoing growth and development of K-beauty in the global market.
