서울 호암산성의 운영과 기능의 변화

국문 초록

본 연구는 서울 호암산성과 관련된 자료들을 검토하여 축조와 운영 양상을 살피고, 관방시설에서 제사처로 용도가 변화된 역사적인 의미를 고찰한 글이다. 백제와 고구려는 안양천 유역을 한성을 우회하는 교통로로 활용하였다. 신라도 한강유역으로 진출한 뒤에 관방체계를 정비하였다. 호암산성의 초축과 관련된 역사고고 자료는 부족한 실정이다. 다만 호암산성 서쪽하단에서 안양천에 인접한 지점에 독산동·시흥동 유적이 조사되었다. 독산동 유적은 군사적 성격이 취락유적으로 6세기 후반에 조성되었는데, 호암산성의 초축시기도 이와 관련되는 것으로 추정해 볼 수 있다. 호암산성이 활발하게 운영된 시기는 7세기 이후에서 고려전기까지이다. 그렇지만 나당전쟁 이후에 호암산성의 관방시설로서의 기능은 약해졌다. 고려시대 대몽항쟁기에 호암산성이 피난성으로 사용되었을 가능성도 있으나, 인근에 삼성산성이 별도로 축조된 것을 통해서 호암산성의 중요도는 낮아진 것으로 보인다. 아울러 호암산성은 지리지를 통하여 조선전기에 폐성 상태임이 확인된다. 임진왜란 당시에 권율과 함께 전라도 관군을 이끈 선거이가 호암산의 이칭인 금주산 또는 금지산에 주둔하였다는 기록도 있다. 그렇지만 사료 비판을 통하여 선거이의 주둔지로 호암산성이 재활용되지 않았던 것으로 보인다. 호암산성은 신라하대 이후에 제장으로서의 역할이 부각되었다. 호암산성의 집수지는 금천 지역의 자체적인 기우제 장소로 장기간 활용되었다. 이러한 점에서 호암산성은 관방시설에서 용도가 변화하며 활용된 양상을 통시기적으로 확인할 수 있는 자료가 된다는 점에서 축성사적으로 중요한 의미가 있다.

영문 초록

In this study, data related to Hoamsanseong Fortress in Seoul were reviewed to examine the construction and operation, and the historical significance of the change in use from military facilities to a rain ritual was considered. Baekje and Goguryeo used the Anyangcheon Stream basin as a transportation route to bypass Hanseong. Silla took control of the Han River basin and maintained military facilities. There is a lack of historical ancient data related to the first construction of Hoamsanseong Fortress. However, the Doksan-dong Historic Site and Siheung-dong Historic Site located at the bottom of Hoamsanseong Fortress are noteworthy. Since the Doksan-dong Historic Site were built in the late 6th century as a village relic, it can be assumed that the first Hoamsanseong Fortress was built around this time. Hoamsanseong Fortress was actively operated from the 7th century to the early Goryeo Dynasty. The military facilities of Hoamsanseong Fortress have lost their function after the Silla-Tang War. It is also possible that Hoamsanseong Fortress was used as a refuge during the Goryeo War against the Mongols. However, the importance of Hoamsanseong Fortress seems to have decreased due to the construction of Samseongsanseong Fortress nearby. Records confirm that Hoamsanseong Fortress was closed in the early Joseon Dynasty. There is also a record that during the Imjin War, Sun Geo-i, who led a government army in Jeolla Province along with Gwon Yul, was stationed at Geumjusan Mountain or Geumjosan Mountain, the second name of Hoamsan Mountain. However, it seems that Hoamsanseong Fortress was not recycled as a base for the election through criticism of historical records. Hoamsanseong Fortress gradually became a place where rituals were held. The collecting resin of Hoamsanseong Fortress was used as a place for rain ceremonies for a long time. In this respect, Hoamsanseong Fortress has an important historical value in that it becomes a data that can confirm the use of military facilities through various periods.
