국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 대학이나 대학원에 입학하는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자들의 언어 능력이 학업 수행에 문제가 되는지, 후속 언어 지원이 필요한지를 확인하는 선별 검사 과제 개발 기초 연구이다. 한국 대학 입학시기에 실시되고 있는 언어 진단평가가 부재한 상황에서 간단한 인터넷 기반의 선별 검사 도구를 개발하기 위해 전반적인 쟁점을 논의하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 외국에서 시행되는 진단평가와 선별 검사를 조사하고 과제를 분석하여 한국어 상황에서 문항 구현이 가능한지를 살폈다. 이를 바탕으로 본 검사에 적절한 과제를 탐색하고 개발하여 검사지 초안을 작성하고 전문가 감수를 진행하였다. 또한 5명의 예비 검사를 통해 유의미한 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 선별 검사는 배경질문, 어휘 과제, 텍스트 완성 과제, 학업 기술 관련 과제로 총 네 부분으로 구성되었다. 본 연구는 한국어 평가에서 잘 활용되지 않지만 선별 검사에서 활용하기 좋은 Yes/No 형식을 활용해 유의미한 논의를 진행하였고, 목표 언어 사용(TLU) 영역을 확인하여 해외 선별 검사에 서는 포함되지 않았던 학업 기술 관련 과제를 새롭게 포함했다는 데의의가 있다. 본 연구를 기반으로 선별 검사가 개발·시행될 수 있다면 현재 학문 목적 한국어교육 분야에서 현실적으로 실현 가능한 대안으로 발전할 수 있으리라 기대한다.

영문 초록

Journal of the International Network for Korean Language and Culture 18-3, 209-242. This basic study investigated the development of screening test tasks to check whether the language skills for academic purposes of Korean learners entering Korean universities or graduate schools are problematic in academic performance or require follow-up language support. In the absence of language diagnostic assessment conducted upon admission to Korean universities, the overall issue was discussed to develop a simple internet-based screening tool. To this end, first, diagnostic assessment and screening tools which are being conducted in foreign countries were investigated, and tasks were analyzed to assess whether questions could be implemented in Korean situations. Accordingly, an appropriate task was explored and developed for this inspection, a draft test was prepared, and an expert review was conducted. Additionally, it was intended to obtain significant implications through the preliminary tests of five students. The screening test consisted of four parts: background questions, vocabulary tasks, text completion tasks, and academic skills-related tasks. This study presented a meaningful discussion using the Yes/No format that is helpful for screening tools. Although it is not adequately used in Korean language evaluation, and it is meaningful in checking the TLU(Target Language Use), it newly included academic skills-related tasks that were not included in overseas screening tests. If a screening test can be developed and implemented based on this study, it is expected that it can develop into a realistic alternative in the field of Korean language education for academic purposes.(Kyunghee University)
