고구려의 압록강 하류 진출과 방어체계 운용

국문 초록

압록강 하류 지역은 요동과 한반도 지역을 연결하는 중간에 위치한 지리적 요지였다. 그러나 고구려건국 초기 압록강 하류 지역과 그 중심지인 서안평은 한나라의 영향력 안에 있었다. 그러므로 압록강중·상류에 위치한 고구려가 요동과 한반도 지역에 진출하기 위해서는 압록강 하류 지역에 대한 지배권 확보가 필요하였다. 이에 고구려는 한나라와 이 지역에 대한 영유권을 차지하기 위해 각축을 벌였다. 그러던 중 312년 고구려가 서안평을 점령하면서 이 지역에 본격적으로 진출할 수 있었고, 4세기후반 무렵부터 이 지역에 대한 방어체계를 구축하기 시작했다. 이때 압록강 하류 지역의 핵심 거점은⼤⾏城이었다. 이것은 ⻑城 즉, 길게 이어진 평지성으로서 단동시에 위치하였다. 대행성은 처려근지가파견된 泊灼城 예하의 婁肖가 파견된 성으로 추정된다. 압록강 하류 지역에서 褥薩이 파견된 烏骨城 중심의 방어체계가 핵심적인 역할을 수행하였고, 박작성 중심의 방어체계는 이것을 보완하였던 것으로 보인다. 이외에 압록강 하류에는 多伐嶽城 중심의 방어체계가 존재하였으나, 오골성과 박작성 중심의 방어체계에 비하여 널리 활용되지 않은 것으로 판단된다. 이처럼 고구려는 요동~압록강으로 이어지는 육상 교통로를 중심으로 압록강 하류 방어체계를 구축하였다. 한편 압록책과 연결되는 평북 지역의 경우는 청천강 이남 安州 부근에 위치한 辱夷城을 중심으로 하는 방어체계를 구축하였다.

영문 초록

The downstream of the Yalu River(鴨綠江) was a geographical location halfway between Liaodong(遼東) and the Korean Peninsula(韓半島). However, in the early days of Goguryeo(⾼句 麗)'s founding, the downstream area of the Yalu River and its center, West Anpyeong(⻄安平), were within the influence of the Han(漢). Therefore, it was necessary for Goguryeo, located in the middle and upper reaches of the Yalu River, to secure control over the downstream of the Yalu River in order to advance into the Yalu River and the Korean Peninsula. Accordingly, Goguryeo fought with the Han to claim sovereignty over this area. Meanwhile, when Goguryeo occupied West Anpyeong in 312, it was able to advance into this area in earnest, and the defense system for this area began to be established around the late 4th century. At this time, the main base in the downstream of the Yalu River was Daehaengseong(⼤⾏城). It is located in Dandong City(丹東) as a long flatland castle. It is presumed that the Daehangseong Fortress was a castle where a Rucho(婁肖) under the Bakjakseong (泊灼城) was dispatched to which Cheoryeogeunji(處閭近⽀) was dispatched. The defense system centered on Ogolseong(烏骨城), where Yoksal(褥薩) were dispatched from the downstream of the Yalu River, played a key role, and the defense system centered on Bakjakseong seems to have supplemented this. In addition, although a defense system centered on Dabeorakseong(多伐嶽城) existed in the downstream of the Yalu River, it is believed that it was not widely used compared to the defense system centered on Ogolseong and Bakjakseong. Like these Goguryeo built a defense system for the downstream of the Yalu River, centering on the land traffic route leading from Liaodong to the Yalu River. Meanwhile, in the case of the North Pyongan(平北) area connected to the Yaluchaek(鴨綠柵), a defense system was established centering on Yogiseong(辱夷城) located near the south of the Cheongcheon River(淸川江).
