국문 초록

홍언(洪焉, 1880~1951)은 일제강점기 미국에서 독립운동가, 언론인, 작가로 활동하였 다. 그는 해방공간(1945~1950) 소재 시조 25편을 에 발표하였다. 이 글은 홍언이 지은 해방공간 소재 시조의 내용과 작가의식을 살폈다. 그 결과, 이 글은 해방공간 소재 시조의 내용을 ‘한반도 북위 38도선 분할 및 미소의 군정 정치 실시’, ‘독 립 국가의 미수립’, ‘냉전 체제의 강화’로 논구하였다. 또한 이 글은 해방공간 소재 시조 의 작가의식을 ‘해방 후 귀국 의지’, ‘실향 의식’, ‘고국 동포에 대한 연민 의식과 한민족 공동체 의식’, ‘자유 의식과 반공 의식’, ‘통일국가 수립 의지’로 고구하였다.

영문 초록

Hong Eurn(1880-1951) was a Korean independence activist and Sijo writer in America during the Japanese colonial period. He published 25 pieces of Sijo based Liberation Space(1945~1950) at The New Korea(Sinhanminbo; founded in 1909). This paper has explored contents and writer’s consciousness in Hong Eurn’s Sijo based The Liberation Space. As a result, this paper has examined contents in his Liberation Space Sijo; the division of the 38th parallel north of the Korean Peninsula, the implementation of military government by the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R., the non-establishment of an independent state, and reinforcement of the Cold War system. This paper has revealed the writer’s consciousness in his Liberation Space Sijo; the will to return home after liberation, a sense of displacement, a sense of compassion for compatriots in the homeland and a sense of community for the Korean people, a sense of liberalism and anti-communism, and a will to establish a unified nation.
