가입근로자 특성 및 금융교육에 따른 퇴직연금 이해도

국문 초록

2005년 12월에 도입된 퇴직연금제도는 기존 퇴직금제도 대비 보다 개선된 노후소득보장제도임에도 불구하고 저조한 성과를 보이고 있다. 이와 같은 부진 요인 중 하나로서 근로자의 제도에 대한 이해부족이 지적됨에 따라 퇴직연금교육의 중요성이 날로 강조되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 설문조사를 통하여 가입근로자의 퇴직연금제도에 대한 이해도를 계량화하고, 근로자의 개인특성 및 퇴직연금교육 경험에 따라 이해도가 차별적으로 나타나는지를 분석함으로써 현행 퇴직연금교육에 대한 평가와 더불어 향후 개선 방향을 제시하는 데 있다. 분석결과에 따르면 퇴직연금교육이 근로자의 이해도를 높이는 중요한 수단임이 확인되었으나, 조사 대상자의 퇴직연금제도 이해도는 상당히 낮은 수준으로 측정되어 현재 퇴직연금사업자 중심으로 수행되고 있는 퇴직연금교육에 대한 개선이 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 조사 대상자의 연령, 학력 및 소득 등과 이해도 사이에 양의 상관관계가 있음이 밝혀짐에 따라, 퇴직연금교육의 효율성 제고 차원에서 향후 근로자의 개인 특성에 맞춘 교육 내용의 정비가 필요할 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

Although the Retirement Pension Plan introduced in 2005 is indeed a far advanced system compared to the traditional lump-sum retirement allowance scheme, it is not welcome yet by the majority of workers. Since the lack of knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Pension Plan by workers is one of the blames for such a clumsy start, financial education is particularly right on the center of emphasis for revitalizing the newly introduced system. This study measures first participants` knowledge on the Retirement Pension Plan, and then analyzes the relationships between participants` knowledge and their individual characteristics as well as financial education experiences. This study finds that the financial education plays a key role to improve participants` level of knowledge and understanding, while the positive relationships exist between participants` knowledge and individual characteristics including age, education, and income.
