영문 초록

Luzzasco Luzzaschi(c.1545-1607) was the leading musician working at Ferrara court in the later sixteenth-century. He was renowned by his contemporaries both as a player of keyboard instruments and as a composer. The madrigal represents the chief type of composition at which the composer was good. Seven five-part madrigal books and a collection of madrigals for one, two, or three sopranos with keyboard accompaniment were printed during his lifetime. Also his madrigals appeared in various anthologies of the time, and a collection of reprints works was published posthumously in 1613. Some time before 1570 Luzzaschi took charge of Duke Alfonso II's private chamber concert, the most celebrated aspect of which was the concerto delle donne. This is the group of virtuoso women singers for whom Luzzaschi composed madrigals in luxuriant style. These madrigals are believed to be written in one of the most progressive styles of the time that anticipating Baroque. In this study the present writer explores the madrigal style of Luzzaschi, especially examining Madrigali per cantare, et sonare, a uno, due, e tre soprani published in 1601. This is the collection written in the 1580s for the virtuoso singing ladies of Ferrara. As the background for this analysis, the development of Italian madrigal in the second half of the sixteenth century in general is also investigated.
