국문 초록

본 논문은 신채호의 인간관에 관한 연구이다. 신채호는 참담한 현실의 벽에서 끊임없이 자신을 성찰하고 국가의 독립을 위해 저항하고 투쟁하는 선각자였다. 이처럼 일생을 일관되게 불의와 타협하지 않고 활동을 전개할 수 있었던 것은 그의 인간관에서 알 수 있다. 신채호의 인간관은 자신의 활동 전반을 규율하는 기제로 작용하였다고 할 수 있다. 인간의 본질인 자유와 평등을 상실한 현실에서 인간은 어떻게 살아야 하는가? 그는 국권상실의 원인을 노예주의 사상으로 보고 있다. 이런 점에서 신채호는 인간을 국수를 보전하면서 타자와 호흡할 수 있는 강력한 주체로 설정했다. 국수를 보전한 우리 민족은 그 어떤 압력에서도 그 어떤 장애물에 대해서도 객관적으로 관조할 수 있는 힘을 갖게 된다. 주체는 신체적 유한성을 깨닫고 무한하고 자유자재한 상속성과 보편성을 지닌 역사적 주체가 되어야 함을 강조한다. 역사적이라는 것은 사리심(私利心)을 버리고 공리(公利)를 지향하는 것이다. 공동체와 더불어 하는 삶은 역사를 주도하며 역사속의 주인이 된다. 또한 신채호는 절체절명의 위기에서 민중이 “독립을 하지 않으면 살지 않으리라”는 각오만 되어 있으면 “자유와 평등의 이상국”을 창조할 수 있는 창조적 인간이 될 수 있는 인간상을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The present paper is a study on Chin Chae-Ho’s view of man. Shin Chae-Ho’s was a pioneer who was incessantly reflecting on himself in the face of miserable reality, resisting and fighting for the independence of his country. His consistent and uncompromising stance against injustice for life is confirmed by his view of man. His view of man worked as a mechanism to regulate his activity as a whole. What should a human being do in a reality in which freedom and equality, which are of the essential nature of a human being, are deprived of? He finds the cause of the loss of sovereignty in the servile spirit. In this context, Shin Chae-Ho regarded a human being as a strong subject who could preserve the national spirit and communicate with the other. Preserving the national spirit, our people can have the power of objective contemplation under any pressure or obstacles. Shin Chae-Ho emphasized that a subject should be a historical subject who has the understanding of one’s own physical finitude and at the same time, the unrestricted inheritance and universality. To be ‘historical’ refers to the orientation toward public interests, rejecting personal interests. Those who share their life with the community lead history and become its protagonists. In the urgent crisis of the nation, Shin Chae-Ho also suggested a vision of a creative man who is able to create “an ideal nation of freedom and equality” only if the people are determined “not to live without the independence of our own country”.
