국문 초록

창세기 1장 26절에 나오는 하나님의 형상(image)과 그의 모양(likeness)을 둘러싼 논쟁은 여전히 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 어원학적인 논의나 성서 신학적인 논의가 아닌 신의 형상(imago Dei)에 관한 인간학적 논의만 다루고자 한다. 소위 ‘신의 형상(imago Dei)-논쟁’으로 불리는 이 논쟁은 그 출발부터 현재까지 우리 자신에 관한 철학적 성찰들과 인간의 생물학적, 심리학적, 신경과학적 연구결과들이 맞물리면서 대단히 복잡한 양상을 띠고 있다. 본 논문은 위 논쟁과 관련하여 여전히 대립하여 논쟁 중인 대표적인 두 입장, 즉 '관계적 입장'과 '실체적 입장' 중 후자를 옹호하고, 발전시키려는 목적으로 쓰였다. 우선 인격적 관계 맺음은 모종의 능력을 전제로 해야 함이 논증될 것이다. 그 뒤에 '실체적 입장'을 대표하는 아서 피콕(arthur peacocke)의 이론을 검토해보고, '인간 인격(human person)' 개념의 도입이 '실체적 입장'의 현대적 버전에 유용함이 논증될 것이다.

영문 초록

The debate surrounding God's image and likeness in Genesis 1:26 is still ongoing. In this paper, only anthropological discussion of the God’s image (imago Dei) will be dealt with, not etymological or biblical and theological discussion. This debate, the so-called ‘debate over the image of God (imago Dei)’ has very complex aspects from the start to the present, combining philosophical reflections on ourselves with human’s biological, psychological, and neuroscientific findings. Regarding the above debate, there are two representative positions still in conflict with each other; 'relational position' and 'substantial position'; this paper aims to advocate and develop the latter. First of all, it will be demonstrated that personal relationships should be based on the abilities of some kind. Then, the theory of Arthur Peacocke, representing the 'substantial position', will be examined, and it will be demonstrated that the introduction of the concept of 'human person' is useful for the modern version of the 'substantial position'.
