고조선과 주변지역 옛 사람 및 동물뼈 연구를 위한 고고과학적 연구방법론 검토

국문 초록

고조선은 우리 역사에 나타난 최초의 국가로 한국사에서 중요한 의미를 가지지만 고조선의 정확한 강역, 문화 등에 대한 자료가 많지 않아 지금까지 해당 시기 우리 옛 조상의 삶을 완전하게 이해하는 것은 힘들었다. 다행히도 최근 고고학 발굴현장에서 발견된 사람 뼈, 동물 뼈 및 식물자료와 같은 다양한 유기물 시료에 고고과학적(생물고고학적) 연구 기법을 적용하여 보다 새로운 연구를 시도한 사례들이 세계 각지에서 속속 보고됨에 따라, 본 고에서는 고조선의 실체를 밝히는 데 이러한 연구를 어떻게 적용할 수 있을지 검토해 보고자 하였다. 고조선 시기 고고학 유적에 대해 간략하게 검토해 본 결과, 유적과 지역에 따라 차이가 있으나 일부 사람 및 동물 뼈와 같은 유기물 시료가 발견되었음이 확인되었다. 비록 대부분의 현재 고조선 시료에 현재 우리나라 학자들이 접근하기 쉽지 않다는 어려움이 있으나, 최근 중국에서 다양한 고고과학적 검토가 수행되고 있는 바, 향후 이러한 분석 결과들이 더 많이 보고된다면 고조선의 실체를 명확히밝힐 수 있는 날이 올 것으로 기대한다. 다만 고조선을 한국사의 영역에 좀 더 명확히 위치시키기 위해서는 한반도 내 신석기/청동기 유적 등에서 출토된 사람 및 동물 유체 등 유기물 시료에대한 과학적 분석을 더욱 면밀히 수행하여 고조선 자료와 비교/검토할 수 있는 기초자료를 획득하는 것이 앞으로 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

Gojoseon is the oldest country in Korean history with according enormous significance. However, it has been difficult to fully understand the lives of our ancestors at that time, primarily due to little acquaintance on the exact territorial border and culture of the country. Fortunately, many researches have been reported around the world by performing various scientific researches on archaeological specimens such as human bones, animal bones and plants with advanced techniques. Therefore, in this study, we have examined how such studies could be applied for the purpose of revealing the ancient territory and the culture of Gojoseon. A brief review of archaeological remains dated to the Gojoseon period confirmed the excavations of organic specimens such as human and animal bones with varying aspects depending on the site and region. Despite of a limited accessibility on the Gojoseon samples currently confronted with, various archaeological reviews have been conducted in China recently. It is expected that the existence of Gojoseon could be clarified if similar findings are reported more in the future. Nevertheless, in order to represent the definite presence of Gojoseon in the Korean history, it will be necessary to attain fundamental data from scientific analysis on organic materials obtained from Neolithic and Bronze Age sites in the Korean Peninsula for further comparison and reviews with the equivalent data from proven Gojoseon samples.
