국문 초록

본 연구는 한국어 보어의 개념과 범위를 정밀하게 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 우선 보어의 개념과 범위를 규정하는 3가지 주요 학설을 상세히 고찰하였다. 주어, 목적어 이외의 서술어가 요구하는 모든 필수성분으로 보어를 규정한 학설, ‘NP1― NP2―술어’의 격틀을 지닌 모든 술어에서의 NP2를 보어로 규정한 학설, 보어를 설정하지 않고 ‘가’형 목적어를 설정한 학설의 핵심과 문제점을 살펴보았다. 우리는 문장성분으로서 주제어, 성분주제, 수의적 명세 주어, 체언이 요구하는 논항의 주제화를 상정하면 그동안 착종된 이중주어문과 보어 문제가 함께 해결됨을 주장하였다. 우리의 주장은 보어를 ‘주어의 정체 확인’이라는 특정 의미 기능을 지닌 문장성분으로 한정하는 한편, 주제(어) 출현 문장을 포함해 한국어의 이중(다중)주어문을 좀 더 포괄적으로 설명한다는 이점이 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the concept and range of Korean complement as a sentence constituent precisely. First, three main theories defining the concept and scope of complement were considered in detail. We examined the points and problems of three theories, which are the theory that defines complement as all the essential constituents required by the predicates other than the subject and object, the theory that defines complement as all NP2s in all predicates with the case frame of ‘NP1―NP2―predicator’ and the theory that establishes ‘가(ga)’-object instead of complement. We argued that setting the topic as a sentence constituent, the constituent topic, the optional specified subject, the topicalization of the argument of noun would resolve the perplexing issues of double-subject construction and complement altogether. Our argument has the advantage of limiting the complement to a sentence constituent with a specific semantic function called ‘the identification of the subject’, while providing a more comprehensive description of the double(or multiple)-subject sentences of Korean language, including sentences that have a topic(or topics).
