국문 초록

  본 논문은 여호수아 1-5장에 나타난 땅의 개념에 관한 연구이다. 여호수아 3-4장과 출애굽기 14장의 본문들을 비교하여 분석한 결과 이스라엘은 홍해에서도 그랬듯이 이곳 요단강에서도 역시 물속의 마른 땅을 발로 밟고 강을 건너고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 동시에 이것은 출애굽기 전승이 다시 한 번 새로운 배경 속에서 신앙고백적으로 현실화되는 것을 보여주고 있다. 마른 땅의 개념이야말로 이스라엘이 앞으로 차지할 약속의 땅을 예시하고 있으며, 그저 땅의 개념이 아니라, 이 요단강 사건은 마른 땅을 통하여 구원을 보여주심으로써, 이스라엘이 이제 정복하고 그 안에서 살아가게 될 땅을 미리 체험시켜 주시는 것이다. 따라서 여호수아 1-5장의 개념성은 하나님이 주시는 “약속의 땅” 인 것이다.

영문 초록

  This study is to identify conceptuality of the land in Joshua 1-5. Conceptuality means the conceptual image that controls all the concepts shown in the whole texts. It is the overarching concept which lies underneath the surface level of the text. Especially the event of Jordan river in Joshua 3-4 can find its close similarity in Exodus 14 where the event of crossing the Red Sea is described. The analysis of Joshua 3-4 clearly shows that Israel walked on the dry land and crossed the river. The concept of the dry land indicates that Israel will conquer the promised land and live in it. The land they are going to take and to live is foreshadowed in the concept of the dry land. Including Jordan river, all the land that Israel was stepping upon would be Israel"s according to the words of YHWH.
  Many scholars focus on the presence of the Ark in Joshua 3-4. However, in my opinion there is more important conceptuality than the Ark. It is the dry land and the land that Israel will live in. Through the event of Jordan river, the Dtr tries to show us that the aspect of the miracle event is not his primary concern, but the dry land is the conceptuality which is contrasted to the concept of the water. The tradition of Exodus is reactualized here in Joshua by making Israel experience the crossing event again. This conceptuality is what the readers should focus on in Joshua 1-5.
