영문 초록

Most pigments used for lip balms to protect lips from external stimuli are artificially synthesized. This study aimed to manufacture a lip balm using natural pigments suitable for modern lifestyles. A pre-survey on preferences for lip balm colors was conducted targeting 200 women in their twenties in Cheonnam Province and, based on the survey result, a lip balm was manufactured using the natural pigments that had the highest preference (Cochineal Extract Color, Red Radish Color, and Lac Color). To investigate the effects of a lip balm using these natural pigments, diverse changes in lip moisture level and lip surface among 50 women in their twenties in Cheonnam Province were evaluated through objective device-based measurements. To evaluate satisfaction with a lip balm, a subjective survey was performed using questionnaires consisting of a of total 23 questions about the general characteristics and the condition of lips. The questionnaires were distributed to 87 women in their twenties in Cheonnam Province from September 28th to October 25th 2017 and 78 questionnaires collected were used for data analysis, frequency analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, and analysis of differences depending on general characteristics were conducted using the PASW statistics 18.0 program. A Polyol-in-Oil (P/O)-type lip balm was manufactured using red radish color, lac color, and cochineal color at a ratio of 2:1:1. According to a factor analysis, for usability of the lip balm, safety (M=4.3846) and for the effectiveness of the lip balm, a reduction in cracks (M=4.3974) was rated highest. Also, there were statistically significant differences in the condition of lips (F=2.736, p<.05), usability (F=3.351 p<.01), and effectiveness (F=3.230, p<.05) depending on the frequency. Therefore, a lip balm using natural pigments is more suitable to the tastes of modern consumers than existing lip balms using synthetic pigments.
