은퇴여부가 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향에 대한 사회참여활동의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국의 중노년(중장년과 노인)의 은퇴로 인한 삶의 만족도 저하를 매개적 변인으로서의 사회참여활동이 상쇄하는가의 연구질문을 가지고 고령화연구패널(KLoSA) 5차년도 데이터를 분석하였다. 분석은 조사시점(2014년)현재 은퇴하였다고 응답한 2,560명과 소득창출을 위해 일하고 있다고 응답한 2,675명을 대상으로 수행되었다. 분석결과, 전체 분석대상자 집단에서는 사회참여활동의 매개변인의 기능은 확인되었지만, 성별과 연령별로 여섯 집단을 나누어 분석 할 때는 매개적 기능이 차별적으로 확인되었다. 중노년 남성집단들에게 있어서 은퇴여부는 사회참여활동빈도를 변화시키지 못하여 매개도식을 만족시키지 못하였으나 여성 중노년 집단은 매개적 구조가 완성된다. 그러나 여성의 경우에도 중고령자(만53세-64세), 전기노인(만65-74세), 후기노인(만75세 이상)으로 나누어 매개효과를 분석했을 때, 중고령자 여성들은 노인 여성과는 달리 은퇴/근로여부로 인한 삶의 만족에 영향을 미치지 못함으로서 추정된 매개구조는 성립하지 않았다. 결론적으로 은퇴여부와 삶의 만족사이에서의 사회참여활동의 매개기능은 한국의 중노년에게 성별과 연령집단별로 구분될 필요가 있음을 제시한다.

영문 초록

This study analyses the data from the 5th survey of Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging(KLoSA) in order to examine the mediating effect of social participation activities on the association between retirement and life satisfaction for the aged over the 50s. Research subjects include 2,560 of retirees and 2,675 of the people who have been still working as of the year 2014. Research hypotheses are that the retirees have more likelihood to be involved with the social participation than the people who are currently working and that the participation contributes to enhance their satisfaction with life. Based on the findings, the mediation effect of social participation was identified for the whole subjects. However, the effect was identified differently with six subgroups divided by ages and gender. For most of male groups, retirement does not change the total frequency index of social participation activities. With a contrast to the male groups, the mediating effect was identified for the two female age groups(65-74 and over 75). In conclusion, the mediating effect of social participation between retirement and life satisfaction is partially applicable for the Korean middle-aged and the elderly.
