영문 초록

A recent discussion on poverty related problems has been vigorously progressed after the IMF foreign exchange crisis. However, there are few studies that deal with farm households (FHs). This study analyzed the scale and the static and dynamic characteristics of poor FHs. Absolute poverty thresholds were derived and used to measure the rate of poverty of FHs and poverty gap. Major static characteristics of the poor FHs such as household income, farming income and farmer s ages were grasped and the persistency (state dependence) of poverty was tested using the dynamic random effect model and dynamic fixed effect model. And utilizing generalized Lorenz curve, changes on real income by income classes were examined. The results show that income divergence within FHs as well as income divergence between urban-rural households has been progressed rapidly. Therefore, it is most urgent that some political consideration has to be given to the current poor FHs.
