데살로니가전서에 나타난 바울의 묵시사상 연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 바울 연구에 있어서 유대주의적 관점에 초점을 맞추었다. 다양한 유대 전통 중에 특히 바울의 종말론과 메시아 사상에 많은 영향을 준 묵시사상에 대하여 연구를 하였다. 유대 묵시사상이 구약 예언전승에서 나왔다는 주장을 전제로 연구를 시작하고 있으며, 유대 묵시사상의 ‘인자’칭호가 초기 그리스도교의 메시아 사상에 영향을 주었음을 밝혔다. 특히 유대적성격이 강한 마태복음에서 ‘인자’ 칭호와 묵시사상적 이미지를 연결을 찾을 수 있다. 24장에 나오는 인자의 재림과 25장의 열처녀에 대한 비유에서는 묵시사상적 용어와 이미지를 그대로 사용하고 있다. 이러한 유대 묵시사상의 영향은 데살로니가전서의 본문에 그대로 연결되고 있다. 바울은 묵시사상을 통해 데살로니가교회의 잘못된 종말론을 바로잡아주고자 이 서신을 통해 권면한다. 본 논문은 데살로니가전서에 나타난 바울의 묵시사상을 세 가지로 요약한다. 첫째, ‘바울의 묵시사상’은 죽은 자에 대한 소망이 있었다. 둘째, ‘바울의 묵시사상’은 임박한 주의 날을 기다린다. 셋째, ‘바울의 묵시사상’은 종말론적 윤리를 가르친다. 특히 종말론적 윤리는 ‘바울의 묵시사상’만의 독특한 특징이다. ‘바울의 묵시사상’은 이 세대의 고통을 악마적인 것으로 묘사하는 유대묵시사상과는 다르게 이 세대 가운데 하나님의 주권과 통치를 바라보게 한다. 바울이 선포한 메시아는 유대 묵시사상에서 그리는 미래의 초역사적 메시아가 아니라 이 세대와 오는 세대를 주관하시는 역사적 메시아이다. 이러한 메시아를 기다리는 자는 이 세대에서 깨어 정신을 차리고, 믿음, 소망, 사랑을 실천해야 한다. 결론적으로 바울은 데살로니가교회에 유대 묵시사상을 자기 나름대로 수정하여 이른바 ‘바울의 묵시사상’을 가르친다. 이렇게 그리스도의 재림을 기다리며 이 세대에서 깨어 준비할 것을 가르치는 ‘바울의 묵시사상’이야말로 한국교회에 가장 필요한 메시지라고 생각한다.

영문 초록

This paper focuses on the Jewish perspective at the study about Paul. Among the various Jewish traditions, I(or this paper) concentrated on the apocalyptic thought that influenced a lot on Paul's eschatology and messianic ideology. The study starts from a premise that the Jewish apocalyptic and prophetic tradition came from the Old testament. And I insist that it affected the Messianic idea of the early Christianity that the word, son of Man, of Jewish apocalyptic thought. Especially in Matthew that has strong Jewish character, the word, son of Man, has a connection with apocalyptic images. In the story of the Second Coming of ‘son of Man’ discussed in Chapter 24 and the parable of the ten virgins in Chapter 25, apocalyptic term and images are used as same. The influence of the Jewish apocalyptic thought is continued at the text of the 1 Thessalonians. Paul exhorted the Thessalonians Church to correct their wrong eschatology through this letter. In this paper, I summarize the idea of Paul's apocalyptic in the 1 Thessalonians as three points. First of all, Paul’s apocalyptic thought is the hope for the dead people. Second, Paul’s apocalyptic thought is waiting for the impending day of the Lord. Third, Paul’s apocalyptic thought teaches the eschatological ethics. Especially the eschatological ethics is unique character of Paul’s apocalyptic. Paul's apocalyptic speaks the sovereignty and domination in this word, different from the Jewish apocalyptic ideology that depicts the suffering of this world as diabolical one. The Messiah that Paul proclaimed is not the superhistorical Messiah of future, that the Jewish apocalyptic thought draws. It is a historical Messiah, who organized this generation and coming generations. People who waits the Messianic should be awakened in the spirit, and practice in faith, hope, and love in this generation. In conclusion, Paul teaches the so-called ‘Paul’s apocalyptic thought’, by modifying Jewish apocalyptic ideology to Thessalonians Church. ‘Paul’s apocalyptic thought’, that teach us to wait for the second coming of Chirst and to awake from this generation being ready, is what I think is most needed message to South Korea Church.
