리쾨르의 성서 해석학

국문 초록

오늘날 성서 해석의 올바른 방향 모색을 위해 리쾨르는 반드시 거쳐야 할 관문으로 인식되고 있다. 그는 진리의 역사성을 중시하는 철학적인 해석학의 원리를 원용하여 성서 주석학의 방법과 목표를 독창적인 방식으로 제시하였다. 교황청 성서 위원회 문헌인 「교회 안의 성서 해석」이 이미 지적한 것처럼 리쾨르의 해석학의 특징은 바로 거리두기에 있다. 그는 먼저 저자와의 거리두기를 통해 심리학적언 해석의 자의성을 극복하고 나아가 텍스트와의 거리 두기를 통해 설명과 이해의 딜타이적인 이분법을 넘어선다. 리쾨르는 텍스트를 설명하는 과정에도 거리두기의 원칙을 적용한다. 그는 기원의 문제에 집착하는 역사비평 방법의 한계와 개별 사건의 특이성을 무시하는 구조주의 방법의 한계를 지적하면서 양자의 균형 잡힌 활용을 강조한다. 텍스트에 대한 철저한 설명으로 제시된 텍스트의 세계는 실존적이고 종말론적이며 공동체적인 차원을 지닌다. 독자는 텍스트의 세계 앞에서 자신을 새롭게 이해한다. 그리고 설명과 이해의 순환 과정이 공동체적인 식별을 통해 전개되며 이 공동체의 역사적인 자기 이해 과정에 진리가 말씀 사건으로 현시된다. 그러나 리쾨르는 귀속의 과정을 단지 지성의 활동으로 이해함으로서 상처 입은 코기토(le cogito blesse)의 능력을 지나치게 신뢰하는 것은 아닌지 묻게 한다. 그는 귀속의 지성작용에 대해서도 정당하게 거리두기를 적용해야 하지 않을까? 귀속 과정에서 성령의 활동을 인정하고 수용하는 것이야말로 교회적인 성서 해석학의 특징이 될 것이다. 리쾨르의 해석학적 아치의 정점은 텍스트의 세계와의 만남을 통해 이루어지는 실존적인 변화와 함께 사회적인 실천을 동반하는 증거의 삶이다. 리쾨르는 초기 저작에서부터 악과 희망을 철학과 신학의 문제로 삼고 이를 탐구해 왔다. 리쾨르의 이러한 해석학적인 지향으로부터 성서 해석학은 종말론적인 희망 안에서 악의 문제와 대결하는 증거와 행동의 신학을 지향하도록 자극받아야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Nowadays P.Ricoeur is considered as a necessary gateway to go through for a valid reflection on biblical Hermeneutics. On the basis of the philosophical hermeneutics which emphasizes the historicity of truth, he presented a very original method of biblical hermeneutics. As it was already pointed out in the document of the Pontifical Biblical Commission "The Interpretation of the Bible in the Church", the characteristic of P.Ricoeur's biblical hermeneutics consists in putting some critical distance. Firstly, by putting some distance between the author and the reader, he tries to overcome the arbitrariness of psychological hermeneutics, and then by putting distance from the text he tries to overcome the Diltheyan dichotomy between explanation and understanding. Ricoeur applies the principle of 'putting distance' also to the process of explanation of a text. By criticizing the limits of historico-critical method that concentrates on the question of origin, and those of structuralist analysis which neglects the singularity of each historical event, Ricoeur stresses a balanced and integrated use of both methods. The world of the text, revealed by a thorough explanation of the text, has an existential, eschatological, and community-dimensional character. The Reader understands himself in a new way in front of the world of text, where the circular process of explanation and understanding develops through the recognition of a community. The truth reveals itself as a Word Event in this hermeneutic process of the interpretation of community. However, one can still ask if Ricoeur has too much confidence in the capacity of the 'Cogito blesse' by understanding the process of appropriation as a simple intellectual activity. It would be the characteristics of biblical hermeneutics to put a proper distance from the intellectual activity on appropriation and to recognize the activity of the Holy Spirit in this final process of hermeneutic circle. The culminating point of the biblical hermeneutics of Ricoeur consists in the life of witness accompanied with the social practice through an existential transformation of readers, caused by the encounter with the world of text. Ricoeur has studied on the problem of evil from his earlier days as a scholar. His hermeneutic perspective can surely stimulate the stream of biblical hermeneutics to be oriented toward a theology of witness and activity which confronts the problem of evil in an eschatological hope.
