영문 초록

Terrorism and the tactics used have reached new levels. The influence of globalization as a force multiplier benefiting terrorist groups has far reaching implications in developing strategies to prevent and mitigate terrorism. Suicide-terrorism and other acts of human caused violence easily fit into typologies. What is lacking is a form of classification based on the actions of the terrorists. Understanding the nature of terrorism as static, dynamic, or hybrid incidents is one step in developing adequate intelligence to help develop strategies to protect societies worldwide. Social science research is an effective intelligence tool and is one means of developing quality and actionable intelligence in this regard. The theory of victim-scripted suicide is presented to demonstrate the value of case study analysis in providing a detailed description of this form of violence as a first step in increasing awareness of emerging forms of terrorism.
