The study examined to the capacity of tea plants to absorb selenium with the aim to develop a special tea with added functional components. Chelated selenium was supplied to 'Yabukita' tea plants by a foliar spray at different concentrations and spray numbers for different times. Tea leaves treated with 20, 40, and 80 ppm showed higher accumulation rates than the control leaves. The foliar spray applied at the early stages of the three leaf bud increased the selenium content of the tea leaves compared to the control of three leaves a bud. The absorption rate of the tea plants increased with increasing application number of foliar sprays. Once sprayed 15 days before harvesting, the tea plants showed a dilution effect as plants growing and the tendency to increase selenium content in the tea leaves. The selenium contents were not the same in the numerical order of tea leaves after treating with chelated selenium and old leaves located at the lower part of shoots had a higher content, which may be caused by dilution as the shoots grow. The general process of making tea products was conducted by high temperature steam, which had the problem of wasting energy, high cost and unsanitary conditions. The tea leaves were then treated with microwaves in the sultry states. The microwave process in the setting of the great sultry method can reduce the energy wastage, inefficiency and microbe contamination. The sultry process employed the microwaves in the first sultry states for making tea products.
