다전공 이수 졸업생 분석을 통한 향후 제도 운영 개선 방안 연구

국문 초록

다전공제도는 1996년 학부제와 더불어 학생의 입학 시 적성 불일치 문제 및 학문영역의 개방성 제고를 통한 다양한 학문 수학의 기회를 제공한다는 측면에서 도입되었다. 이에 본 연구는 다전공 졸업생의 지적기술이 얼마나 개발되었느냐, 그리고 다전공 이수에 대해 어느 정도 만족하는가를 살펴보고자 한다. 본 조사는 2013학년도 서울의 S대학 다전공졸업자 141명을 대상으로 온라인을 통해 실시되었다. 다전공졸업자는 2개 이상의 전공을 이수하여 졸업한 학생들을 의미하며, 학생들이 자신의 전공이외에 다른 전공을 추가로 이수하는데 자격 제한이 없어 신청을 통해 원하는 전공을 최대 3개까지 확대할 수 있다. 대학교육 성과를 평가적 관점에서 접근하면 인지적 발달 뿐 만 아니라 학생의 대학경험에 대한 주관적인 반응 역시 중요한 비인지적 성과로 확인 할 수 있으므로 만족도는 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 다전공제도 선택 시고려사항에 따른 만족도에 있어서도 학생들이 다전공제도를 선택하는 큰 이유는 ‘자기개발’인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 스스로 관심을 가지고 학습하고자 하는 의지가 다전공으로 이어지는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

The multi-major system was implemented along with the undergraduate system in 1996. This was implemented in the perspective of providing various academic opportunities for students; in particular, because of university students' discordance of aptitude and for flexibility of knowledge domains. Thus, this research investigates how multi-major graduate students have developed their intellectual skills and how much they are satisfied with completing multi-major in college. This study has been employed to 141 multi-major graduates in S university in Seoul through online in 2013. Multi-major graduates are college graduates with more than 2 majors, and these students can apply up to 3 majors because there is no restriction on qualifications. When outcome of university education is approached from the aspect of assessments, students' cognitive development and their experiences in university can be recognized as non-cognitive achievements; thus, a measurement of satisfaction is considered an important factor. One of the major reasons why students make a decision to pursue the multi-major system, from the perspective of satisfaction, has been 'self-development'. Therefore, students' self-interest and will toward learning has impact on pursuing multi-majoring.
