국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 페리 플라자 농민시장에 대한 사례 연구를 통해 그 안에 담긴 사회학적 함의들을 찾아보고 이로부터 농민시장의 사회학을 위한 몇 가지 시사점을 얻고자 하는 데 있다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 페리 플라자 농민시장은 '시장으로서의 입지적 경제성과 고객층 전략에 대한 고려가 내재된 공간'인 동시에 '기성 상권과의 상생 터전이자 소규모 창업자를 위한 보육기로서 의 기능을 수행하는 공간'이다. 또 페리 플라자 농민시장 사례는 농민시장의 사회학이 농민시장의 핵심주체로서의 음식 판매인에 주목해야 함을 일깨워준다. 페리 플라자 농민시장은 '지역사회와 지속적으로 소통하고 교감하는 핵심 공간'이기도 하다. 이와 같이 페리 플라자 농민시장 사례는 경제사회학, 음식사회학, 지역사회학의 관점에서 그 나름의 함의를 지니고 있음을 보여준다. 이 같은 페리 플라자 농민시장의 사회학적 함의들은 농민시장의 사회학에 여러 시사점들을 제공해 준다. 이를테면, 농민시장의 사회학적 연구에서는 농민시장의 입지 및 그와 관련된 주변의 환경적 조건, 개별 농민시장이 설정하는 주된 소비자집단과 그에 대한 판매 전략, 농민시장의 환경적ㆍ사회인구적 조건, 농민시장과 주변 상권 간의 관계, 농민시장에서의 자영업자의 충원과 성장 및 이동경로, 농민시장과 지역사회 간의 상호작용의 유형과 내용 및 강도 등에 주목해야 한다는 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper is aimed at finding out sociological implications which are embedded in the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and getting some insights for sociology of farmers market derived from them. The major results in this study are as follows. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market are both 'space which take into account economic analysis of location as a market and a client strategy' and 'space which coexists with existing business district and plays a role as an incubator for small business'. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market also reminds sociology of farmers market of noticing on food-vendors as a main agent of farmers market. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is a 'core space which continues to interact with local community', too. After all, the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market shows its own several implications inherent in Economic Sociology, Food Sociology, Regional Sociology. These kinds of sociological implications of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market provide sociology of farmers market with some insights. The sociological research on farmers market, for example, should pay attention to location of farmers market and environmental conditions surrounding it, main consumer-groups and marketing strategies for them of an individual farmers market, environmental and socio-demographic conditions of farmers market, relationship between farmers market and existing business district, recruitment and growth and moving path of self-employed People in farmers market, pattern and contents and strength of interaction between farmers market and local community.
