영문 초록

Victimization studies have relied on lifestyle/routine activities theories to explain the differential risk of victimization. This study tests the effect of adolescent’s risky activities on victimization. In addition, this study presents several individual and neighborhood factors to explain violent victimization in youth. This study hypothesizes that adolescent’s risky activities, the level of neighborhood crime, self-control, the relationship with parents, school bonds, the association with delinquent peers, and past delinquency will affect the risk of violent victimization. By using data from 794 male students in Daegu and Kyungsang areas, this study finds that youths in low level of school bonds and high level of risky activities are more likely to experience victimization. Furthermore, this study shows that those students are more likely to commit delinquencies, so they can be exposed to the risk of victimization.
