종단자료에서의 측정 동등성 평가를 위한 LCFA와 DIF 기법의 적용

국문 초록

인간의 심리 및 행동 특성에 대한 이론을 경험적으로 검증하기 위하여 횡단 자료뿐 아니라 한 개인에 대한 반복 측정 자료를 토대로 한 종단 연구가 최근 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 기존 횡단자료 연구에서는 집단 간 평균 차이를 추론하기에 앞서서 측정 동등성(measurement equivalence)의 개념에 대한 경험적 평가는 중요한 절차로써 인식되고 있다. 하지만 종단연구에서는 측정 시기 간 동일한 대상에 대해서 동일한 측정 도구를 사용하기 때문에 동등성 개념은 자연스럽게 만족되었다고 가정하는 경향이 있다. 하지만 종단연구에서도 이러한 ‘측정 동등성’의 개념이 유지되지 못한다면, 측정 시기 간 파악된 점수 차이를 해당 구인의 ‘참 변화(true change)’로 추론하기 어려울 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 경험적으로 종단적 측정 동등성을 평가하기 위하여 종단적 확인적 분석 모형(LCFA)과 차별기능 문항(DIF) 분석 절차를 제안하고자 한다. 분석 자료는 최근 학업동기 연구에서 많은 관심을 받고 있는 성취목표지향성 척도 자료이며, 종단적 측정 동등성의 위계적 가설을 설정한 뒤, 두 측정 시기 간 동등성 정도를 평가하였다. 마지막으로 종단 자료에서의 측정 동등성 개념이 갖는 장점과 이 개념의 평가를 위한 LCFA와 DIF 기법의 유용성을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The most fundamental issues in assessing development is the problem of measurement equivalence or invariance. It is a common practice that researchers use the same instrument for assessing a given construct at each time of measurement. At this point, they often believe that the same construct is measured, that scale scores fall on the same metric, and thus that change can be estimated clearly. But these measurement equivalence issues should be more rigorously evaluated than is the case with cross-sectional data, when the constructs of interest are repeatedly measured. This study discussed how to evaluate measurement equivalence in longitudinal designs using confirmatory factor models, outlining various levels of measurement equivalence as well as DIF techniques. Specifically this study demonstrated how to examine measurement equivalence of Achievement Goal Orientations(AGO) across two occasions by LCFA using Mplus(Muthen & Muthen, 1998-2010) and two DIF techniques such as L-A-LOR(Penfield, 2005), and IRT LR(Thissen, 2001) techniques. Findings support the measurement equivalence of AGO construct across two occasions, and then latent variable scores at each occasion of measurement are on the same metric and stronger conclusions are warranted. Finally the usefulness of LCFA and DIF methods to investigate longitudinal measurement equivalence were discussed along with practical considerations in using them for this purpose.
